Q:

dro ????

I am looking for advice on dro for my 9×20 lathe. I found some that I like online, however, I use cooling fluid on most of my cutting. I am afraid the the cooling fluid will screw the dro’s up. Anyone else use dro’s with cutting fluid?

FR,
Take a look here , http://groups.yahoo.com/group/9x20Lathe/ ,there are quite a few dro’s that work well ,you can also shroud the scale to stop a lot of fluid flooding over it .I mist cool my lathe and mill and have had no problems with my dro

we had one at the last shop that i worked at and it didn’t work for shit once the coolmist started to collect and mess with the encoder….i know that they do make some that are ment for use with coolant…if you find one you like i would definatly ask if its good with coolant..Greg
