Questions with AF trigger/safety
Recently while shooting my Talon SS the safety quit functioning properly. I figured I’d pull it a part clean everything up and see if I could find the source of the problem. It was filthy, so I cleaned it all up and re-assembled it. Now I have a new problem, the safety seems to function just fine but I can’t seem to get the trigger to function at all. I’ve looked at the diagram, disassembled and reassembled a dozen times. Nothing is missing, the safety seems to catch every time and can be placed into the fire position but the trigger will not disengage the striker.
Does anyone have an insight on this problem? I’d sure appreciate any information.

Ya Smoke a shit load of weed instead.
I meant the trigger/safety assembly, I only dropped the striker and adjuster twice. I evidently put it back in right the second time but I didn’t pay attention to how it dropped out of the frame. Regardless, you’re advice is solid and I’ll limit the beer consumption next time I tear into one.

After a complete disassemble and reassemble it went back together and works as it should. I’m wondering if the striker was in backwards and couldn’t catch. Who knows, it’s possible I was drunk when I did it and this was my first time inside of an AF rifle. All in all it was a good experience and your input is appreciated.

Everything looks fine, nothing appears to have a marred surface and there are no visible burrs. I’m hoping I don’t have to disassemble and reassemble another dozen times to get the spring position correct. I’ve had some misfire issues a few times also.
The whole thing made me curious, so I broke out my other Talon SS. I put 6 through it and had a safety malfunction 2 times. I just got a Condor that I haven’t even fired yet, I hope this isn’t going to be an issue with all 3 of my AF rifles. Ha Ha!
I have had 2 trigger groups go crazy on me. The usual suspect is compressed springs, but if since you’ve had it apart, the position of the springs can be a problem too. Mine were very picky.
My symptoms were… safety would either not engage or would be stuck and would require excess force to release. Not long after that I would find that the gun wouldn’t cock all the time, then when it did it started to misfire. I ordered new trigger bits and springs and replaced everything and all was good.
While replacing the bits on the first one I compared old vs new parts. There was significant wear on the old parts. Of course … that gun probably had 15,000 pellets through it at the time.
Does the trigger pull thru the stroke like it did before? Does the travel feel shorter/longer?
If everything is assembled correctly, I would look at the surface of the final sear. Look at the part that engages the hammer.
The final sear is not moved by pulling the trigger, it is released. If there is a burr on the surface, it might be hanging onto the hammer and it will not fire.
Other than this, make sure nothing has gotten between the floorplate and the sear itself when you reassembled the gun. One of the springs might not be in there just right.
That little spring that holds the safety in place might be out of position, check that.
Also, consider removing the safety? Although I prefer to have it on my rifles, one of them would not operate with the safety in place and after taking it out the trigger worked flawlessly.
You can always decock the gun if the opportunity to shoot disappears. Cock, hold bolt forward, pull trigger and let bolt slowly to battery.

For a little bit there I thought it was only me getting drunk in the shop when working on my AG….. What some thing about that sound wrong??
Well I guess I should also limit it to just one beer when doing work.. I GUESS 🙁
