Condor Owner, Been Lurking a while

My name is Jonas, I’ve been lurking here for a while. I like this site and think you guys could answer my questions better than any one else.
I’ve owned a Condor for nine months now, I love this gun, but it can also piss me off. 😕 I’ve bagged a HUGE Ground Hog at 15 yards, two Opossums one at 10 yards and on at 3 yards, and two squirrels out of a tree, offhand, at 75 yards. As I said, I like this gun, but here’s what I don’t like…
Yesterday, five target groups from 40 yards zeroed, In the Same Pellet Hole, literally, no deviation in POI at all. Today’s target groups, Five Groups Five Shots, 2 1/2 inch groupings, no touching holes. Some days it goes back and forth between groups, and always with ANY pellet.
During the summer, one day from the back porch I shot 4 wasps off the top of their nest at 52 yards with Beeman kodiaks. The very next day, same pellet, same chair, same pressure, same hold, same weather and same temp it took 10 shots just to hit the nest. I know it’s not me, I’ve been sharp shooting since I was 9, and I love to show off to friends by shooting nine 24 ounce coke bottles with nine shots at 300 yards lasered using my Father’s old AR 15 .223 with Open Sights. Accuracy problems are not coming from me.
My question is does any else experience this? If so, what the hell causes it? I really like this gun, but it’s tempting to sell it and get an Evanix Rainstorm which I personally know has beautiful shooting characteristics and reputation.
I keep my barrel clean, Hoppe’s oil and patches, from breech, no brushes. Cleaned pellets, and lightly oiled, sorted as well. I thought maybe it could be the scope but I haven’t had time to mount a new one and zero it. Kodiak Extra Heavy’s are doing the best overall, but are too expensive IMHO, and I have a package of 1,000 JSB Jumbo 18.1’s to be delivered today so I can give those a try, even though it’s going to be really cold this evening.
BTW, the gun is totally stock, no mod’s, with mounted AF 4-16X50 scope.
Am I the only one with this particular problem, or is this common for a stock AF Rifle?

Maybe you have to check the bushing screws (sometimes it get loosen)
It works for me.

00nob I just got my condor cuz I got into trouble with the five-o and my powderburners decided to go back to powerful air rifles. I am also experienced bench shooter and I have also experienced what you are going through. One day stacking the holes the next day fliers all over the place. The other thing is that I am only shooting 20 yards. I have a feeling it could be a couple of things:
1. I stopped lubing the pellets too much but I don’t think this can cause too much problem.
2. (not a NF or leuopold) The AF scope sucks sometimes the knobs can be loose when you turn them sometimes it does not click at times. But if you have been getting some good shots this may not be totally the case.
3. The scope is too low to the cheek rest so I decided to get the tri rail to raise this up. Too low can cause parallax problems. May want to try etac to tilt the tank also.
I knew it was the scope because I went to a empty large warehouse put my paper bulls eye target on a box on the floor then measured 30 yards away put the gun on the ground in a vise to make sure it wasn’t my hold lined up the rifle to target (I removed the scope) took a ten shoot group, pumped the tank to 3000 and did it again and again using the same pellet. The rifle shot like a laser same poi or very close to every time. It prooved to me it wasn’t the rifle. It was new. I even checked for air leaks using A lit candle by the breech while shooting. I also put a chrony down and the velocity was consistent. It was the scope probably how I was holding the rifle due to the low position and the way the tank is the cheek rest makes my shot kind of awkward. I guess I am used to a regular rifle stock. I bought the tri rail and raised the scope I watched religiously how I sighted and gently held the rifle, tightened all the screws on the rifle including the barrel just to make sure, but especially the scope mounts and scope knob and after all this I have not had a day of bad shooting. I always keep track of how many shots I take then fill the tank at the same number every time. Also try not to keep changing pellets use the best one the rifle likes for target and one for hunting. SORRY for rambling but I noticed that the stock screws for the AF mounts and even on the tri rail screws sucked when you tighten with the right tool the the screw head looses it’s shape it does not hold my tool well not even the supplied tool that came with mount and rail.
The other possibility is that if you bought it used , someone may have tampered with it a bit , and sold it.
or , it could be the scope rings are cheap , and or the scope may be damaged .
sounds like something in the scope could be lose.It doesnt take much to throw your shots off
something to check .

hey man im a power shooter also my 22 cal is making 90 fpe i understand that u like to shoot big stuff i do to u might want to switch to a HEAVY pellet im shooting the 32grn pellets and the 28 grn the problem is ur holding the gun tooooo tight lighten the hold also when a pellet starts out above the speed of sound ahd drops below it it can supposedly cause the pellet to destabalize but im not sure of this anyhow check ur hold and get a heavy pellet it will produce more power than the kodes do also if the kodes r too expensive try the H&N Barracudas they make the pellets for beeman
Alright, If you can’t tell, I’m new to pcp’s, and have been away from airguns since I was a kid and I’m coming back after getting tired of high powered rifles, mainly a 30.06 shooting heavy loads at a design range of 400 yards, blowing my shoulder apart and I like the recoilessness of the Condor while retaining the ballistics of a .22. Not to mention the substantial noise reduction.
Now, What do I need to know to be a good shot with My Condor?

Hold her gently. There is a phenom known as frame flex.
I bought the gun based on the write ups that I had read stating these guns weren’t hold sensitive. Were they Wrong? That would be very disappointing, though I do hold the gun just like I hold my 17 HMR, with a death grip. That’s when I’m most stable. How do you properly hold an Air Force rifle? ❓
My guess….You’re holding the gun too tight.

HAHAHA!!! I’m a thick, Strong guy with 21″ heavily muscled arms and once killed a fifty pound dog by hand, but there is NO damn way I would even have touched that choy! Each tooth was as long as my finger!

Yes, they stack very well at 1,200 fps, when they want to. If I go lower than 1,195 on my chrony the shots go all over the place, but at around 1,210 fps they don’t do so bad. Like I said, wasps off a nest, but anything lower and you’re outa luck.

I do know what you are saying, I received my first air rifle when I was thirteen years old, some RWS rifle but I can’t remember the model, I sold it years ago. I knew never to clean that barrel, but I shoot the Beeman Kodiaks and 1,200 fps and the barrel lead fouls so much the shots will slow as much as 100 fps after about three tins. I know that it will not lead foul at fps lower than 900, but I go for maximum fpe because I shoot at large game. The gun was originally for large pests like coon’s and opossums, but I kill things as large and larger than coyotes. I probably shouldn’t mention this, but I shoulder shot and killed the neighbor’s 100 lb Choy dog because it attacked my little brother, and we heard that they had only just got the dog back from the pound because it attacked Their neighbors kid. That thing had to die. 800 fps is not going to do it for me. (I just had to open up the dog before I disposed of the body, The pellet went through the heart!)

They like 900-950 best. That could be part of your problem. Though if they stack one day, no reason why they won’t the next. Using a shroud/silencer? Could be clipping or if you are taking it on and off between shoots, this can cause poi shift even without clipping.
And as far as killing someones precious pet….

Welcome and off the break I would say stop cleaning the barrel. Unlike firearm barrels, air gun barrels rarely need cleaning. They actually become more accurate as the lead works in. I would do some searching on barrel cleaning. Condor rocks! Next thing you know you will want a .25 cal barrel for it 😆
PS are you using C02 or HPA?

Right on that’s what I found with one of my 177 caliber 12″ barrels. Tightened the bushing screws and the gun stacked the pellets up.
