.25 Edgun results??
I had a .22 Edgun but I sold it and planned on getting a .25 Edgun after some time. I wanted to see if the valves held up and if there were any other kinks. I have been searching around TAG andI don’t see any reports on the .25’s???
How are they doing?

He owns/ hosts my favorite hunting/shooting website(www.accuratereloading.com) and is from Dubai. from posts he has made on his website I know he and his brother do some airgunning. again just curious and thanks for your informative posts. have been thinking about an Edgun and all info is helpful.

Sorry for the late reply. My initial idea was to actually solder this brass peice to the transfer port block, that way the barrel o-ring would still touch the TPB (transfer Port Block), but I couldn’t find any one that will do that & decided to drill the TPB & thread it on the lathe, so it actually threads inside but this way I don’t get contact.
My way has a problem since the pellet has to be pushed inside the TPB “fast” or it might get a little stuck but I load it quick & I will make a better solution but once I receive the spare parts from Ed.
I also cut about a centimeter off my spring so now loading the gun is much much easier.
My gun can shoot nearly 60+ shots and I’m getting around 950 FPS.
If I wanted stronger tension, then I just replace that metal peice with a shorter one.
The problem is not making sure the barrel doesn’t move, it’s centering the barrel perfectly while at the same time making sure that o-ring is a 100% perpendicular to the TPB and even then when you try to tighten you will end up moving the barrel a little.
With my solution it’s perfectly centered & no leak what so ever but then again like I said you have to load the pellets quick. I intend to solve this problem once I get the parts.
The ideas are there but we don’t have quality work when it comes to execution.
Please feel free to ask anything you need & also provide us with info on your mods.

Does your brass O ring mod slip over the end of the barrel? Does the original barrel O ring still contact the transfer port block? I have thought about having my transfer port block counterbored .472″ dia. for around .200″ deep and having an O ring groove put on the outside end of the barrel.
During our tuning, Mamcrackin and I had a lot of leaking barrel O ring problems. The barrel wanted to move forward. We broke a few bolts trying to get the mounts tight enough. We came up with this.
It is a 1/2″ ID split collar, that is ground down to give clearance for the air tube. Once you get the barrel clamps tight, we slide it up against the rear barrel mount and tighten it down. It is not the most elegant solution but, the barrel will not move.
Also, I had some .250″ brass rod that I put in a lathe and finished sanded down to .245″. We found out that the barrel mounts can shift and not be exactly parallel. The brass rod is about 8″ long.
If your barrel mounts have shifted, the end of the barrel will not sit square with the transfer port block and the O ring will leak. I sent a finished rod to Mamcrackin also.
We remove the cocking bolt assembly and slide the rod through the transfer port block and into the barrel a few inches and then tighten the mounts down. If the rod can be pulled out easily, the barrel mounts are in alignment. If it doesn’t pull out easily, you need to shift the mounts.
When I first saw that you got a .25 long and were using the heavier pellets, and shooting the JSBs at high speeds, I wondered how long it would take you to turn your gun down!
The long .25, shooting JSBs, is so SWEET between 930 and 955 fps!
I have heard that Ed is not going to make any more long .25s. I think that that is a shame! Once it is turned down to 45-51fpe, it is really impressive!

I had a small air leak between the barrel and the breech, as well (.22). But, a simply o-ring replacement worked for me. I thank the Maker that I didn’t have to loosen those nuts holding the barrel.
That would have made a great video I bet!

Hoot: you are right there is a loud crack that freaked the hell out of me too the 1st time it happened.
but the reason i feel the air is cause i had to mount my scope a little forward & there fore i rest my fact a little forward too.
I do beleive that Ed did a great job but not a perfect one, and you can definatly improve it a little.
And once more thanx to all of you for eveything i learned, i am forever in your debits.

I have the short Edgun in 5.5 and my barrel came loose shortly after I received it. I tightened it , per Ed’s instructions, and fixed it immediately, but I found that you really really need to put the foot pounds on that hex wrench to hold that barrel in place.
Ed said it took serious pressure to hold it and I had to do it twice before I got it right. I was afraid I would snap the head off the hex nut but I didn’t.
When that barrel came loose when I fired, I didn’t get any air in my face, but I got a “CRACK!!!” report that sounded like a .243 rifle. The air coming out of that breech is crazy loud. I had to drop to the floor and do a belly crawl back into the house because my cop calling neighbors came outside to see what had exploded. That was the first time. A few hours later it happened again and that’s when I really put some pressure on those nuts and it has held ever since.
Thanks for the great pictures. Ed once commented on why do we keep trying to improve something when it works very well from the factory. I believe, as you, that a thousand curious minds tinkering with his already excellent product will find improvements to be made.
I simply hope such improvements can be “added on” to the existing models. A well functioning pellet magazine is next on my list.
Incidentally, I believe your nation is incredible in its forward thinking and willingness to make changes to meet the future. Granted they don’t all work out, but someone has to lead the way and be willing to take very high risks to effect changes in your part of the world!

Mine broke a valve after only about 1500 shots, i used all kind of pellets on mine from JSB 25.4 all the way up to Eun Jin 43gr.
Ed said that the valve cant take the heavier pellets, after replacing the valve it eventually broke the metal peice where the spring goes inside.
I went to a friend with a Lathe & did some repairs until i get the parts from Ed.
I am not too sure but im always worried now a days when i use the Edgun, i guess it wasnt made from the ground up to support the heavier .25 caliber.
One thing i hate so much in the gun is where the barrel has an O-Ring & has to be tightened, it “always” leaks a little bit of air, and if you dont tighten it enough it might eventually open up after some shooting & thats the place where you place your geek & your eyes are always near that air.
I fixed this with a little mod, it doesnt leak “AT ALL” something Ed should do for the next guns, makes the barrel center & no leaks what so ever. (try putting a tissue paper on that end barrel & fire to check leaks).
Anyway eventually i tweaked the req @ around 120, and i am geting loads of shots with the JSB 25.4 flying around 940s. ( Now where is the Magazine with 40 pellets!?!?)
There are so much to love about the gun but so many small things here & there that can be fixed easily if Ed knows about them & we have enogh people to push that update.
Ill try & get some pictures to show what the things that needs Attention.
if you buy the gun then go ahead & order spare valves & stick to lighter pellets.
Update: added some pictures.
Mine shot the JSB 25.4 grain pellets at 1042 fps for 61.25 fpe. I am sure that it could have been turned up but, the JSBs shot best, in my gun, at 955 fps. Mamcrackin has his set at 935.
It does but very limited.
What is the Edgun producing for power in .25? Does it have the adjustability/tuning like the condor?
