The last pellet I tried was the tried-and-true Beeman Kodiak. If you’ve got a .22 caliber PCP, you’ve got to try it with Kodiaks. It’s a heavy pellet, but it’s made of pure lead and therefore a little faster than if it were harder, because there’s not quite as much resistance when it goes down the bore.
But with Kodiaks, I noticed two additional things. The Marauder made half as much noise with Kodiaks as it did with either of the other two pellets. And, perhaps because it was quieter, it seemed to whack the target harder than either of the other two pellets. The quiet pellet trap actually moved when hit by Kodiaks.
Kodiaks averaged 584 f.p.s., with a 9 foot-second velocity spread from 578 to 587 f.p.s. The average muzzle energy came out to 16.01 foot-pounds. So, the Marauder pistol I’m testing is a 16 foot-pound gun. Pretty impressive for an air pistol, don’t you think?
I have to tell you that I’m lovin’ this pistol so far. If it turns out to be accurate, as well, I might have to buy it, rather than send it back.

I have recently done the trigger mods on two of my 3 AF rifles, what a difference!
One I polished the surface, trying to avoid getting thru the tempering, and also polished the frame runway the parts sit in, and put the set screw in,that one is scary light. 😯 Being as it is on the Airarcher, I backed it off a lot.
The other I only did the set screws, and it is a delight. I have not done the SS yet, but may do it today if I get bored.
I had not heard of taking the tension off the spring on the AF rifle before.

Yep I backed the adjustment off of the spring to Zero..
Now that Air archer set up is mean, I got it in the box and I use it for a good conversation peace. 😀 That thing shoots like no bodys buisness.

Tit for Tat, the Talon SS is the best deal by far. It will shoot a 1/2″ group on 45 yards, and if you use the High flow tank or order the kit and do it your self as I did, you can shoot and shoot and shoot.
I don’t even count the shots. I use the power settings on 8 because of the high flow tank and the Talon hammer and spring. When I get through with it I just back it back down to zero on the power setting, because I don’t want my spring to have that pressure on it while it is setting in the corner.
But the Marauder rifle is the most accurate Ive seen. The pistol with the shoulder stock is a good walk in the woods gun that don’t weigh too much and is fun to shoot.
So if you want one gun to do the Job and are on a limited budget get a Talon SS. I have 2 of them 22 and 177, the guns shoot like a dream and won’t let you down in a crimp. 😀
And there are mods all over the forum for them from trigers to barrels to who knows what. I think it is going to be hard to make a better air rifle than the Airforce.

And to make it more confusing.
My 2240 with the Hipac gets about 50 FPS under my ss in velocity and is shorter, just as accurate and weighs much less.
Of course it does not get as many shots as the ss on a fill. But I am converting it to a Disco, with a 14 inch Disco tube and a Boss Disco valve, so the energy will be higher than either the ss or the Mrod pistol and will have more shots per fill.
I have looked at the Disco repeating breeches and the 2240 magazine, the RIM, with that and the TKO break that makes it sound like a very polite lady farting, it will have the MRod beat 7 ways to sunday and do it cheaper.

Sound is incredibly subjective. And BB’s hearing has had a lifetime of abuse in the army. Thanks for reminding me not to ‘listen’ to the hype 🙂
I’ve just measured the Crosman YouTube video against the specifications and the 18″ gun becomes a 31.5″ shoulder stock pistol. That’s as long as my stock TSS. I think I’m going to stay with my current setup. I have more power, replaceable tanks, and I don’t have to spend any more money 🙂

I read that, and while I have never heard a Mrod pistol, I have heard numerous silenced Ruger autos and owned one for over 25 years with a much larger and more effective can than what the usual one wears. They are all over the sound spectrum.
So that is a subjective description at best unless you have heard his personally.
What I have read is that it is not all that quiet and there are already people making additons to the shroud.
He also compares it to a SS. But again, what pellet, what power setting?
Probably going to be a great addiion to anybody’s kit nonetheless.

So here’s a fact and question for owners of the pistol… According to the specs, its only three inches shorter than a Talon SS without AF tank…. So if you install the shoulder stock on the MP and AF Tank on the TSS are they almost the same length as each other?
My TSS is 21″ without tank and 32″ with tank.
16 ft. lbs. and he says its quieter than a Silenced Ruger MKII – which I know he owns. That’s not too shabby for a mass production pistol.
