Hi friends, I need help – advice, what is the factory default size which is in the picture? I brushed my Gunpower SSS and I have not noticed loosen two screws on top hat…

There’s a lot of advise on this BUT without a chronograph I would recommend making sure the breech, when cocked, rests on the top hat with no play.

Any gap between the breech and top hat when the hammer strikes will translate into less power. i.e. the strike is two hits instead of all the energy being transferred directly to the top hat.

You can secure your set screws with a little blue Loctite. Don’t over tighten the set screws or else you’ll damage the valve stem.

More knowledgeable people will likely add to my comments – but the above has worked for me for the last 12 months with no shift or change in performance.
