That gun started out as a gun for Kelly but soon turned into a powerhouse and got carved stocks and went to a customer.
I think that’s it….has a much fancier stock than I remembered.
Star wars, sorry but that is the only way I describe that.
I am sure it shoots great and is powerful, but that is just too wild for my tastes.
I just like clean classic lines or the blackgun look.
It simply looks like it evolved elsewhere.

Personally, from one artist to another, the man is an artistic genius! 😉
I wanted to include a link to the .25 Barnes with the sliding cap breech that he made for his wife…went to his sight and lost hope of finding it any time soon. My favorite Barnes gun that I have seen by far.
I happen to be in Gary’s file/waiting list. The way I explained it to him is “I most likely will not be able to afford to buy one when my name eventually comes across his mind, however, I would like the opportunity to sell or trade one of my children for one…” 😆

I just got off of the Beaumont site. They list the bullet molds that will work with their guns.
If I had a Beaumont, I would NOT let my girlfriend shoot it at 200 meters! 😯
Damn Star Trek nerds 🙄
simply because that’s my impression of Barnes’ aesthetic sense
Hey whatever floats your boat Jerry
some folks love Citroen automobiles
I think they are butt ugly
quality wise Gary is a top maker, no question there
style?
Well Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Its not a dismissal of Barnes rifles just a statement that I find much of them having this Rube Goldberg ambiance that doesn’t mix well with my own aesthetic sense of what a weapon should look like
quality, performance, Barnes has those bases covered
now as far as being not based on the Dart guns, some are, others are not
same can be said for DAQ and his leige lock and so forth
by based I mean any big bore that uses a side cocking striker driven by a coil spring to knock a valve all contained in the pressure tube with the breech assembly mounted above it.
dont matter if you raise the breech above the pressure tube or juggle the position fore or aft a tad, its still going back to the tried and time tested dart gun formula that Dennis first used that is in fact Crosman based.
only so many ways to do something
the bulk of Euro PCPs follow the same linage back to Crosman’s basic design as well which was likely influenced somewhat by the earlier French Giffard
None of this diminishes Gary’s work one bit, it’s first rate if you have the time, money and like the style 😉
RS,
What is it with you and calling Barnes’ guns “Klingon?”
Gary has produced dozens of designs in many styles from futuristic wild to basic to historic but you lump them all into “Klingon.”
I’ve got 4 Barnes guns and I’ve never seen a Star Trek episode where the Klingons had a gun that looked as good! None of the Barnes guns are derived from dart guns and none of them have anything but the finest machine work.
I don’t expect anyone to like the looks of any or all of my examples but given the range of styles, it’s hard to imagine anyone who appreciates guns not looking at at least one Barnes gun and liking it! One can look at the price and the wait and say “no thanks” but that shouldn’t spur a apparently reflexive and insulting dismissal of the whole body of work.
Hear you on that Ced
quite a bit of this is motivated by show & tell
Never handled a Beaumont but they do look quite impressive and done right
My buddy paul has a 25 cal BEAUMONT and it is just as beautiful as that pic up above and it shoots hard and flat. Paul cast his own .251 bullets for it. I’ve shot it a ton and i love it. I think his is like 120-130 FPE with 50 grain .25 cal bullets.
One other note about my JH457. Jack and Reba took my very 457 and some others to the last L.A.S.S.O show that Erik Henderson put on. I had to wait for the HALEYS to return before they shipped my gun. Reba told me that a lot of people handled it as well as the other guns but never fired them. She said people were offering TWICE what the asking price was. Mine cost me 750 BUCKS. So folks were offereing 12-1500 bucks for these gun at the LASSO show. My point is….folks were handling these rifles and never noticed anything on the outside. The biggest was that the gun sits in the stock crocked. My point is, most folks don’t really know what to look for in a gun. Its all about PULLING A BIG WAD of cash outta their pockets and getting what they want when they want it. The evidence was right there in most folks hands during that show and no one noticed a thing or said anything. I noticed the off center stock the minute i received the gun and looked over it….lol
They do if you want them that way
clic on “clasicc” on the menu bar at the top of the homepage above
there is one pattern a great deal like the pre war mauser sporting rifles
Riverside,
Although I have only seen pictures of them, they appear to be beautiful rifles. If only it came with a classic stock.
