Elite 3200 5×15 Tactical VRS SS Sniper 10 power
I was all set to buy the SWFA Sniper 10 power (not the HD).
Then I get a flyer from Midway that they have to Elite 3200 5×15 Tactical on sale for $27.00 less than the SWFA Sniper, Elite is $272.99 it is normally $389.99.
Both have the target knobs, the Elite has 50 inches of adjustment at 100 yards. The 4200 Side focus 6×24 is on sale for only $440. but does not focus down past 25 yards or so.
It is not the $27.00, I want the better scope, at $27.00 to me it is a wash.
What level of Leupold optics does the 3200 Elite compare to?
Which would you buy?

Well I have been selling airguns to fund my latest bankrupting fantasy, a xp Ranger 45.
I now own only two airguns, a Condor 25 and a Airarcher conversion on a SS frame. The Condor wears the 7X21 which was purchased when Midway sold out of the 5×15 Tacticals. I do love that 7×21 but seldom go above the true Milddot power of 14.
I also had to buy a scope for the xp Ranger. I purchsed a Burris 2×7 Muzzle loader/Shotgun scope without AO and it has the Ballistic plex reticle. That seemed reasonable given the rifles mission, shooting elk on my old mahoganey trails I cut 20 years ago. First choice would have been a Leupold Varix 3 1×5 with a Mildot added, but way too much fucking money.
I will shoot the rilfe with a 18/75 yard zero, then shoot it at various ranges and get settings for the holdover marks on different powers, Elk are big so if I go down to 2 power to hit at 150 to 175 yards on the lowest holdover mark, that will work. I paid 149 buck for the scope so it is light on the gun and my wallet and should be handy.
Right after I sold the last of my airguns except the above ones, guess what I see on the yellow classifieds?
A 5×15 3200 Elite Tactical, pristine condition with box and paper work, briefly on a PCP, $274.00 to my door.
It is on it’s way and I do not even have a rifle for it. 🙄
I will experiment with it on the Condor 25 and see how it does, iit maybe a more useful scope, or I will find something to put it on, or sell the 7×21 3200, time will tell.
I still have the hots for a Royal or a Rainstorm or something with nice wood and lots of power, it just dawned on me as I wrote that why that is, hell that sound like me, nice wood and lots of power. 💡

Good choice RC, let us know how you like it. I always wanted a bushy as well as the SS…I missed out on buying two SS for dam near the price of one on the yellow a while back. I’m sure some of you remember when they were listed. I walked away to discuss it with the Mrs and when I returned they were sold.
This Sunday I saw a 4200 for sale by the same lady who had it for sale in last spring’s Gun show. I tried to trade her dam near 600.00 worth of stuff I was trading but she wasn’t interested. She was asking 500.00 for it. I probably could have gotten it for 4 cash, but I was in the trading frame of mind only.

I think it gets here on the 18th.
I got to thinking about those large turrents , the ones I have had in the past, on the Leupolds and the Millet I had, and the ones I see on the Tactical. They were a pain in my ass, others like them I know. But after reading up on the ones on the 3200, I decided perhaps they might be better for me, they are supposed to be able to be rezeroed and are finger turnable.
Yeah, I am looking forward to having better glass.

I try to spend only a certain amount each pay period, so today is payday and I tried to order the Bushnell 3200 5-15 Tactical.
They were sold out.
Next option that had a Mildot was the 7-21 3200, it does not have target knobs, but does have easy to use adjustments and has that same 40+ adjustments which the next option available at Midway with Mildots do not have, the 4200.
So I ordered the 7x21x40 3200 for $303.00 to my door.
It will go on the Condor 25 and the two Baraskas will play musical scopes on my other airguns.

Well first and foremost I want better glass than my Baraska, and adjustments in real time, that should not be unobtainable. I want to be able to see that 25 caliber projectile arc into my quarry so I can make field corrections if I miss the first shot.
Yes the length seems to be the problem with the 3200, and that SWFA is such a nice scope. I hunted for years with a Leupold fixed 7.5 power Mdl 8. So I can live with the fixed power.
But nothing is carved in stone, I can buy the Bushnell and there will still be the SWFA available at full price at a later date, the Bushnell may not be. I should be able to recoup my money or most of it on the Bushnell if I can’t live with it. Or make it a spare when I wish to upgrade.
So unless someone on the Yellow comes up with a Leupold EFR with Mildot added for under $300.00,(we can dream can’t we?), come Tuesday I will order the Bushnell.

Good question, my first answer is what do you really want? Fixed or variable power scope? Rear, side or front parallax?
The SWFA SS has 100 + moa of windage/elevation, rear parallax down to 10 meters and a huge eyebox, with 30mm tube. You’re gonna pay full PRICE! for this one…..
The Elite 3200 has Front parallax and a smaller eyebox and a 1 inch tube. Rumor has it Bushnell is dropping the Elite 3200/4200 line so this is a bargain @ a closeout price. Snooze ya gonna loose, they’re gonna sell out.
Never looked through a Elite 3200, but, side by side, my Elite 4200 has better glass then my SWFA-SS 10x non HD.
Both use Japanese glass, and I have read no negative reviews of either?
The Bushnell is the Better buy, if you like the Front parallax?

Yes and being that is a varible gives it a little more utility. I hear every body singing praises to the discontimued Bushnell Ledgend, and I assume this one is of better quaility by at least one level. And hopefuly it is the equal optics wise to the Leupold variXII.
However one detraction is that it is long with the AO on the end, and that SWFA has a cool feature in that the focus for range is in the eye piece where a varible power ring normally would be, but hell I still have long arms.
The reviews of the 4200 say that it has limited adjustments and that the side focus feature only allows it to focus to 25 yards. My Millet was about the same as focus range.

Id go with the Bushy all day.In fact Im going to pick one up myself in the spring.I think its an excellent scope for the dough.In the $300 range, I think your hard pressed to find a better scope.
