Best Big Bore size for pellet selection
Was wondering what size has the best selection pellets that work. I was thinking of going with .308 until I found a post that said no one makes a pellet that works good in a LW .308 barrel. Any info would be helpful. Thanks Doug

You’ll probably find it easier to hit 200fpe with 9mm than .308 but I agree that the slug selection is greater at .308 or .45. Are you starting from a Condor or other platform for this build or starting from scratch? You may have other factors that influence your caliber choice more directly than slug variety.
9 mm was my first choice. Just seems like there were more stuff in .308 then 9 mm. I could only find pellets at pyramid for 9 mm.

9mm EunJins, 9mm bullets in around 100 and 125 grains work well
You can always cast your own. They even do small swagging kits if you feel like spending a little more up front. Then you can do any bore you like and have endless supply.

Thanks Jerry. I want to build something bigger than .25. I was running around on google and found a thread that said that nothing works in the .308 LW barrel. That’s when I thought I would ask on here. I kind of wanted to keep it on the smaller size. How accurate are your .308 slugs?
If you are looking for 200+fpe, you will be building a very stout .308. It certainly is doable but you are aiming fairly high and should know that going in.
As far as pellets go; to get 200fpe from a .308 you’re going to need some mass, probably over 100gr at a minimum. Fortunately thereare plenty of choices available. I can sell you .308s sized for your barrel and there are commercial and other small casters selling slugs as well.
If you step up the caliber to .45, I would go with.452-.454 for best availability.

Nothing in general. Just want to see if I can build something that will make couple hundred fp and be accurate. Going to shroud it and try to see if I can make it as quiet as my .25. Does any body else make barrels? Thanks

The .32 is a Barnes barrel and there’s no sense talking about that barrel unless Gary is sending you one. But, you can get great accuracy with a number of barrels provided you can build it/them in to a decent gun. I suggest you ask Walt or Tony or Walter or Cyg for advice regarding that part of the project.
