Need advice to assembly my talon
Hello,
I have problem to install the talon screws, I don’t have any idea where it should be.
This is new gun from AF but come here disassembly, so with a lot of screws and parts I’m difficult to assembly it again.
please, advice.
Thank you
markus

i think that 2nd hole is the spot for the 2nd stage over travel. the other one is the one that comes stock now. however it goes through the trigger spring. they probably didn’t like that. i use it and have no issue but i see the idea. there is a sticky in the quick ref section i think.
That 2nd screw hole could be used to make the rifle unable to fire. Put a screw in until it bottoms out then try to fire the rifle, it wont.
Maybe a good way to keep kids from messing with it?
No idea if thats the intended usage, but I cant see any other function yet.
I wonder if its a CNC error that AF is too lazy to fix? LOL
Thanks Yellow,
It’s obviously not a mistake on your part as i found that they did make it that way. The mistake was me using that layout in putting mine back together once.
AF should post up to date diagrams like that one and show the different revisions.
Mrnewbie,
I still don’t know what that 2nd threaded hole is for.
Maybe it’s a finer adjustment for trigger over travel ❓
You might call AF and let us know what they say.
They are very friendly to talk to and willing to answer any question.
How can you not know where the for arm screw goes? Grab the actual for arm and see where it lines up.
Mine does not have that grub screw between the trigger and safety. Maybe some guns do..others don’t..I don’t know. There was a trigger adjustment mod where a screw was added in that area to fine tune the trigger. I heard newer guns have that adjustment screw from the factory. Its my guess its for trigger adjustment.
Is this gun in parts or what?
this is new air gun from AF and come to my home disassembly and I’m not take the grip and the fore arm because I have made it from wood.
also the barrel haven’t come yet.
The link given to “Trigger Modification Instructions” is great up to the point that the GRAPHIC under “Adjusting” is OBSOLETE ❗ ❗ ❗ That graphic has caused more trouble in the last year or so than anything I can think of ❗ Somebody should change it or DELETE it.
IT IS NOT THE WAY AF HAS BUILT THE RIFLE FOR SEVERAL YEARS ❗
Many Newbies to this sight have used that OBSOLETE graphic to improperly install the Safety Link.
Spring “C” is no longer pulling the Safety Block forward. It was replace with a compression spring that pushes the Safety Block to the rear.
A small compression spring is shown within the Safety Block and holding the Safety Link to the rear. The NEWer setup has that same compression spring but with the forward end of the safety link hooked in front of it so that the small spring holds the Safety Link forward.
This explains why the early AF rifles had to have the Safety pulled to the rear to release the safety. That must have been awkward to say the least.
The graphic is there to show trigger adjustment… NOT to show people how to assemble their trigger components.
If someone provides an updated schematic I will amend that post to show both versions.
ANYONE can feel free to send a PM explaining any error’s in tech or other articles and they will be corrected. Thats a better way to get something fixed rather than a post on a thread that may be overlooked… “SEVERAL YEARS :!:” later.
BY THE WAY…

It looks like someone drilled and tapped what some call a pre-load adjustment hole through the trigger bar instead of from the top down through the frame. It would need to be drilled & tapped from the bottom, of course.
The first screw in front of the trigger is the trigger over travel adjustment for limiting the trigger travel after the rifle has fired
If the other screw hole were in the correct place it’s adjustment would limit forward travel of the trigger.
Having not tried the forward limit screw I don’t know if it’s worth the effort.
So far, I like just having the rear travel adjustment stop. My trigger has a fair amount of movement then meets a definite spot where the spring resistance appears to double, then much less movement until the hammer is released. Then, my adjustment stops the trigger with very little further movement.
I call this increase of spring pressure a 2 stage trigger. Others have expressed various definitions of what is a 2 stage trigger. It no doubt works differently in other weapons.

Knowledge is power
You have the for arm screw in the right place..

I’m a Newbie too!
I think you should forget about those screws for now. We all kinda think they are for fine trigger adjustments. Get the gun workin..then you can play with fine tune of he trigger. They are not required for the gun to work. Maybe put a grub screw in both, just to fill in the holes..but don’t tighten them up to the point they touch anything in the trigger group.
I like the trigger on mine and can see no real need to fine tune it at all.
