Q:

24" section of Picatinny Rail

I thought Brownells sold long lengths of picatinny rail, but cannot find it. Anyone know of somewhere to buy at least 24″ lengths?

Thanks river – that’s exactly what I was after.

only source for long blanks I am aware of is EGW, its right on their website under scope mounts
Evolution supplied the Brownells rails as well
http://www.egw-guns.com/

I have the Alumiweld brazing rod’s for aluminum, but will probably just TIG weld it.

Thanks for the link JFK. Still hoping to find something at least 24″.

never did fully understand the fear of welding/brazing
I would probably advise using Coral aluminum brazing rod and I do think milling it to fit will result is a far more elegant finished product as you will be able to drop it down to meet the tube as well as completely cover the original cocking knob cutout
I would mill it, screw it then Coral braze it in place as you can use a MAP gas torch to flow Coral rod
follow that with a clean up, bead media blast and a refinish in Air Dry Cerakote
thats my plan anyways YN

Thanks riverside – was going to pm and ask you were you got yours.

I just got my own welder so I’m going to try welding it on like you suggested a while back. Did you decide against that in favor of maching it to attach due to a negative aspect of welding or something else?

I get mine from Evolution Gun Works
32″ 1913 blanks for $49.99
nice quality
still need mine milled for the internal radius of the AF tube and dovetailed

I might have to go with the chinese 12″ sections I saw on eBay for $9.99 and see how they are….

Quite a few places offer 18″, but so far none found at 24″.

“Picatinny rail blank” seems to get the most hits. That stuffs spendy, holy crap. 🙁

YN,

Your not getting senile, they did at one time, 12 inches I think.

Too bad someone does not sell sections with a dovetail cut into them length wise to slip on our rifles, I suppose the market is too small.

Only stuff I have seen with length are the ones that fit on AR tube forarms, I have considered buying a couple and just screw them on, but they want an arm and a leg for them, the Brownells ones were cheap.
