Q:

Brand spanking new TSS chrony readings—

From factory, TH set @ 0.074″ no play whatsoever with gun cocked and bolt closed– so I left it as is..I ran 100 10.3 AA pellets through it just to wear parts “in ” a little. Being single (and LOVIN’ IT ) means I leave my chrony set up permanently in my kitchen, aimimg down the hall to my bedroom/bath. So, the fact that it was foggy this morning did not slow me down in the least! Altogether I shot 160 pellets , the 10.3g. Air Arms Field Heavy…they were shooting VERY accurate 25 yard groups yesterday…just made sense to use them…I’ll just list the highlights for each setting, and not bother with each pellet fps, etc. I stopped after PW 6 setting…actually ran out of that pellet..so will have to wait for my PA order to get here…

PW @3….50 shots, averaged 838 fps, for avg. of 16.00 fpe…start psi was 3K..stop pressure was 2K.

PW @4….60 shots, averaged 844 fps, for avg. of 16.30 fpe…start psi was 3K..stop pressure was 2K.

PW @5….30 shots, averaged 874 fps, for avg. of 17.4 fpe… start psi was 3K..stop pressure was 2200 psi.

PW @6….20 shots, averaged 894 fps, for avg. of 18.3 fpe… start psi was 3K..stop pressure was 2400 psi.

I saw I was running out of pellets, that’s why the last to tests have low quantity shot, and higher pressure left..Obviously will have to do MORE testing @ PW % and PW6, and maybe even PW7 and higher..just depends on the results.

I’m VERY pleased with the PW 4 setting…..60 shot at over 16 fpe is great for plinking AND squirrel hunting…LOTSA shots 😀 😀 😀 😀

FOR THE RECORD, I use a SHOOTING CHRONY, alpha model….i did 160 shots this morning and did NOT have even one “error” of any kind..Not news to me, but I know there are some here that have had disastrous results with Shooting Chrony..I just posted to let folks know that all their products aren’t bad…not trying to start anything 🙂

So, what say ye merry men?? Comments? suggestions? donations? 🙄

edited to correct spelling 😳

I’m expecting several more tins of pellets today, waiting on FEDEX 🙁 I’ve shot test groups with the pellets I already had, so far the 10.3 Air Arms are the tighest, but want to test these others before I post any pix. I’m shooting quarter sized groups @ 25 yards, but I KNOW the gun will do better…got some H&N’s and JSB’s, to name a couple, on the way , like I said, just waiting on FEDEX. I will post up some pix here in the next couple of days 😎 😎 😎 I fully expect dime sized groups @ 25 yards 😀

Looks like if I went down to 2900psi to start I’d have about 50 good shots all within 5 % of highest fps 😀 😀

Thats great man , lets see some groups, you never see anyone put up .177 airforce groups. i was thinking about getting a .177 barrel for grins, but i dont know. 🙂

Right you are Sir, right you are 😀 YEP..I was certainly happy when I saw that the holes drilled AND already tapped…made it EZ to do that mod, especially when you have the screws in your hardware bin too!!
Maybe Air Force DOES have someone watching/reading this forum..I would like to think so. I honestly feel that this is THE PREMIER site for AF guns, no joke…no better place for them to learn from owners than right here.

Right on, PR! There’s nothin’ like a great air rifle. 😀

a memeber on here took skunks and possums with a talon ss shooting kodiaks. iam surprised that the rifle came with the two holes for the trigger mod. i guess airforce has been looking around the forum.

I agree with the lack of responses….find it sort of strange too 🙄 🙄
I don’t remember my other TSS shooting as well as this one, but that’s the differenc between one gun and the next,,,The other one was .22 caaliber if that means anything..Anyhow, shots started at 810 fps, by shots 29, 30, 31 and 32, fps was up to 869, then back down by shot # 60 it was 818 fps… Suits me just fine..considering that wa with 10.3 pellets it gives me pretty good FPE for a LOT of shots 😎 😎 😎 I DO have pests (squirrels,) armadillos, crows, rabbits, racoons..And I thoroughly enjoy paperpunching..I’d be doubtful if I could get any racoons with the TSS, but I have an AA S410, in .22 cal. that shoots 29.5 fpe, so I’ve got ’em covered..would rather scare them off than have to kill them anyhow….
Got to checking today (reading MODS) found that this TSS already has BOTH the holes drilled and tapped for the trigger mod!! Very pleased to find this out..all I had to do was dig up two 10-32 x 1/4 ” grubs screws and install..how’s THAT for handy ?? 😀 😀 😀
Gun shooting quarter sized groups at 25 yards, but I expect groups will get a LOT better ..like down to penny size–maybe this trigger mod will help. I’m used to a 8 oz. trigger with the S410, so TSS is taking some getting used to….Either way, I’m diggin’ it and the more I look at the blue, the happier I am I chose it. Sorry for such long-winded post

This is your new blue TSS, right? Very cool color. Those look like great numbers on PW 4…60 shots, that’s great! It makes me wonder if AF has learned to tune their guns from reading this forum. 😉 They should all come like that. I also wonder if they have made any minor modifications to their valve that would allow better numbers without so many hours of tuning?

Do you have pests to eliminate, critters to hunt, or are you enjoying paper punching? I take it that the gun is shooting accurately?

That’s great that your alpha is working well. So many of us have had the error message blues that mess up the limited 10 shot string that the sc company has chosen for us. Lucky you, there aren’t any distasteful, rude, fraudulent interactions with the sc company in your near future. Whoohoo! I too am so very pleased that I found the Pro Chrono and all of its much more convenient, and user friendly features. The best of all is its nine strings of upto 99 shots per string.

I do find it fascinating that there have been more than 100 views and nobody has responded. Apathy sucks!

Seriously PR, I am very pleased to hear that it is working well for you. Happy airgunning! :thumb:
