Q:

Loud Tank has Less Power…

Very quick question, 177 12″ TSS, internal baffles, tested at 2600psi and 2400psi for both tanks.

– Tank 1 980fps at PW4… loud pop in confined space.

– Tank 2 950fps at PW4… makes my ears ring.

Dropping the PW caused a drop in performance as expected but tank 2 was still too loud. Both have had TH adjusted to remove breech slack but nothing more than that (no tuning). So I’m wasting air but not getting more performance for it.

Is there an adjustment I can make easily? is it a valve return spring? will a fender washer help? does the TH need backing off 0.01″ ?

Grateful for any wisdom out there.

Again hard to say. All the forces at work need to be tuned with each other. Every gun is different so what works for one prob doesn’t work for the next.

Okay, it might pay me to break the loctite and start adjusting and chrony the thing until it behaves.

Hard to say. What I do know is the TH adjustment has a large effect on fps and air usage.

Only advise I have is to rid your self of the TH out to remove breech slack. My guess is the TH is out too much wasting air and making noise with no fps benefit.

You’d think with a lighter hammer strike it wouldn’t waste so much. But the spring in the valve may be to blame.
