Q:

Stock Talon 18" and Predator Polymag Velocities

Just did a chrono on 16.2 grain Predator Polymags in 22 cal.
Talon Stock 18″ bbl
Tony Shroud

Fill 2900psi
P.W. 10
10 shot average 1050 fps 39.67 fpe

Sighted in at 20 yards I got a 5 shot “clover leave” with these pellets. They like high speed.

C02
P.W. 10
10 shot average 707 fps 17.98 fpe

Plenty of power either way for Pigeons. Ya Think!
Do I need to push them faster????

I have a high-flo tank with a heavy striker weight, but I have not installed it….

Talon/Talon SS

If it shoots great don’t sweat the details… Sound barrier is 1100ft/s at 43F and 1050ft/s at 0F… http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-speedsound.htm

You should have seen it through the optics in real time when I pulled the trigger! Since there is no recoil on these rifles you can watch the results as they happen!

i personally like shooting pellets around the 950 fps for best accuracy and shot count. but if your getting good results from sending predators at 1050 fps theres no need to adjust anything. i see that your doing very well with the higher speeds, i just seen your post in the hunting section where you destroyed a sparrow lol

I used to shoot in the 1020 – 1040 fps. area with no harmful effects.

What is the BEST way to slow the predators down?
They are the most accurate pellets I have shot in this rifle.

I have also found that the faster they fly the more accurate they are.
If that is the case what would be the reason to slow them down other than to get more shots per fill.

These pellets are awesome on birds.

I finally got a shot a Pigeon and when I hit the bird…. feathers flew it just sat there. He was dead and did not know it. Then he just fell out of the tree. No flopping, no movement, nothing

Pop, WHAP, Flop. With the shroud the sound of the pellet striking the bird was louder than the gun going off as was the thud when it hit the ground!

Slow the preadators down to around 950 fps. If you want to use the high flow tank try using heavier pellets like kodiaks to get max foot pounds.

sounds plenty to me much faster and it will be too fast you are just under the sound barrier, around here I broke sound barrier just after 1080fps., so you are close.
