anyone considered this?
on the stealth/talon the moderator screws onto the end of the shroud, but, the barrel end sits about 35mm away from the moderator/shroud coupling leaving a chamber between the end of the barrel and the entry point to the shroud…..so, a roll of scothbrite in this pre chamber methinks might help in the quietning down of things,,,,sounds good?

question should be how does my wife do her hair? now that half her curlers are stuffed up the end of my stealth and all her hairspray gets squirted up the jacksy of my spud cannon……i am so grounded…….
I understand the HW100 uses a “curler” type of baffle in its very effective moderator. There are some Youtube videos on it and it beats me how the curlers do that so very effectively!
How do you do your hair? Do you use the small curlers to get your hair to flow gracefully past your ears and onto the back of your shoulders, or the larger curlers to allow your hair to accent and frame your facial features? Pablouk swears by the small ones, whereas BeannebOy will only touch the large ones because all his teeth have been capped with gold crowns, and he wants that to stand out. Pablouk is a bit more European in his approach, as he uses the small ones in his armpits, and with the hair on his back as well.

update on my post topic………….today i vented the front bushing and, vented the frame under the front handle, making no real difference really. So then i wrapped scotchbrite on the barrel between the 2 bushings, again, not much difference 😕 Finally, using a curler wrapped in scotchbrite infront of the front bushing to the point where theframe ends and the moderator begins, and presto! such a difference i thought i had run out of air…..nice one 😀
I noted that Ed has put very tiny holes around the very back end of his Edgun shrouds. It allows the pressure to vent to a lower level before being forced back up into the baffles. It works rather well.
I added a small moderator at the end of the shroud on a project gun I am working on. I drilled two very small holes at the back of the moderator and it did indeed quiet the report noticeably.
A word of warning here…if the vent holes are too large, they will make a sound when the air vents out of them. Ed’s are like the size of a .050 hex wrench. They are tiny. So, if you try this, start very small and with no more than one hole on each side. I stopped at two because it did the job I wanted. You may wish to try more. Just remember those holes will be easy to drill but hard to plug.

I this space is best left free. Vent your front bushing and pad out the space between both bushings. This was the maximum amount of air is allowed back through imto the frame as less through the silencer.the space its self acts as the first chamber and as ssshooter said you dont want that stuff going in the internals. I do you it myself but ive got orings stopping any rubbish comeing past the rear bushing. One thing that is effective in that part is a little stealth matting that you use in car audio installs
Scothbrite breaks down rapidly releasing abrasive fibers that will eventually destroy your barrel. Check the FAQ Silencer section for alternative materials. The current craze is Mr. Clean Magic Eraser material wrapped around a hair curler.
It does make things quieter but the amount of pressure coming out of the barrel will tear that up over time and at the worst moment start screwing with accuracy
I have the BlueJay shroud, on a Tallon with 24″ barrel. The bj is just a long hollow tube with some baffles in the last 5 inches or so. It works very well, does a good job..but I wanted even better.
First I drilled out the front barrel bushing and vented the frame in the front handle area. Then wrapped my material between the front and rear bushings as I slid barrel back into the frame. Then starting at the end of the barrel I wrapped more material around barrel as I was slidding the bj shroud back on, I did this the whole lenght of the shroud. I cut the material into about 1/4″ thickness.
Gun is very ,very quiet. In fact the wife can be sleeping on the couch, 10ft away and I can shoot out the back door, without waking her up..so it pretty nice.
I did not use the green scotchbrite, I used the Mr.clean magic eraser..the original all white ones. I’m sure any material that absorbs sound would work well.
