Q:

New to the forum from London UK Gunpower Stealth issues!

Hi All Shooters, My name is Matt and i normally shoot with a Daystate MK4. I just purchased a Gunpower stealth. I believe they are the same as the Talon brand, correct me if i am wrong.

I took my new Stealth out today for the first time. I was very disappointed with the grouping of the pellets at 30 metres/35 yards. I tried Bisley Magnums at 21 grains as recommended by the supplier. I also tried Air Arms Diablo Field 5.52, 16 grains. I used a gun rest clamped in a Black and Decker workmate. The groups i achieved were a spread in all directions of 50mm/2 inches! I telephoned the supplier and told him what had happened on my first day out with the gun. Of course he was surprised and said, i should be achieving 1 inch groups. In my mind 1 inch groups are still too large for the setup i was using and for hunting as a rule.

Please can you give me the answers to the following question;

1. What pellets work well in the gun?
2. What group sizes should i have been getting with a stock gun at 12 fte?

3. What do you think could be going wrong with today’s results?

I did not use a silencer and the pressure was at 200 bar. There was no wind as well.

I really appreciate your advice and help.

hi,

The keywords of the GP stealth, ( and all other rifles for good shooting is Stability, Stability,Stability.

and of course, good barrel , pellets, scope.
I’m the bad part of the rig. 😳

Matt. I give you a call this evening.

Hi,

I rebuild my rifle, custom barrel, breech hammer, bolt, stock, silencer, valve, valvestem, scope mount.
you see a few things, πŸ˜‰ but can’t find a better rifle who suit my needs.
Yes it’s not like an other rifle to look trough the scope,
but after 10 years, your body grows to it. πŸ˜›

I’m waiting on my reg. from the USA, and will give it a try,
but with a good valvestem / valve / hammar / spring combo. you can have 45 good shots @ 30 ft/lbs with a 18″barrel.
A O-ring between the valvestem and valvehouse helps a lot.

One funny story about a hunting trip with a friend of me,
I with the stealth , and he with his multishot Daystate MK X
With the electronic trigger, he show me all the powersettings,
to play with the satfey and trigger from 5 to 30 ft/lbs.
On the hunt there was sitting a Pigeon on a sitting tree near me,
I took an aim I I hear, psst, all most nothing and he shot with 5 ft/lbs 😈 miss.
next pigeon a hit from me, hell what a impact on the bird.
next pigoen psst, a little more noise, he shot with 12 ft/lbs.
agian no luck. 😈
He all most took the rifle, and slam it to the tree πŸ˜†
I have a funny day.

My normal job is with blieps and updates, and bad batterys.
for me no battery’s on my rifle, only for the laser.

Yeh send it back, after trying lighter pellets as an out of the box one should be way better, peope do knock them but thats extream.
Are you bothered about warrenty,if you mod it internaly its just a concideration.

quote matlip:

I forgot to say, the gun is only 2 weeks old from new.

Then do the warranty thing

An airgun should do 1 minute of angle at worst two.
so anything more than 1/2″ at 25 yards is getting wild

I forgot to say, the gun is only 2 weeks old from new.

Ta very much for the welcome, i must admit the knowledge of the guys on this forum is quite amazing. These guns are really knocked in the the UK. I am patient i think i can make a big difference with this gun with a few tweaks here and there, from the great advice from the guys on this site. This is half the fun resolving the problems. The problem i had with my Daystate MK4 was no problem, if you get my meaning. The rifle is perfect in every way, there is no way of improving it, which means no mods or weaky to be done, a bit borig really.

I am quite keen on getting it regulated if it makes a big improvement and a good quality barrel put on it. I quite like that offset thingy to lower the bottle, as it is hard to see down my scope, even with high mounts on.

Is there a specialist out there someone could ecommend to me who sells after market gear for my gun? Mine in he UK is a stealth, in the US are they called Talon?

Matt welcome,

How old is your Stealth? , the old ones have a rimfire barrel.

I put in a BSA barrel and now ( the rifle) is a tackdriver.

Keep in mind that the locktime of the GP rifle, is longer then your other rifle, you need a good follow trough.

Greetings from Holland.

Pic. my workhorse in the UK 2009

yes your prins Charles is happy with me πŸ˜‰

Thanks, will do.

Hi there,
At 12 foot pounds try rws supers or crosman mgnums,oh and make sure the barrel screws are tight.

Thanks, for that. What groups should i be getting at 35 yards normally with this kit?

also, most guns have a problem at 200bar and prefer a slightly lower charge, you might be valve locked and getting low velocity.

try some different pellets.

make sure the breech is snug against the top hat, sometimes play there will dampen the hammer impact.

Thanks very much, i will study it.

Hi, thanks for the welocme. There was no baffles and the end cap was removed, any more ideas, please?

Welcome to the madness!

remove any baffles, end plug etc in case you are clipping pellets
