SCBA Fill Set up
I am looking to get myself a SCBA fill station. I like the setups that Joe Brancato sells, but they are a little pricey. I see SCBA tanks for sale on ebay and craigslist all the time. I was thinking that I could get my own tank and purchase the adapter. I am aware of the 15yr shelf life on the tanks.
Has anyone put together a their own SCBA fill setup?

I picked up 2 SCBA tanks + a mask with hoses and a harness for $250 They are 66cf/4500 psi tanks and were manufactured 11/09, even if I get the Fill Adapter from Joe, It is still cheaper then buying the whole set up from him.
When I priced it out online for the SCBA setup with hose, I did realize after getting all prices for parts that Joe’s price is cheaper. Keep in mind cheaper in the sense the parts of high quality especially the micro-bore hose.
I set my shoebox up with Joe’s SCBA setup and bought a used SCBA tank from the forum under $200.
There are some pretty decent tanks I picked up from a fire station on the for sale forum that are still available but only 3 left so jump on it if you want a good price for a SCBA tank that is 4500 psi and 66 CU.
Well, you would need MORE than just an adapter AND all the parts you buy need to be minimum of 5000psi working pressure..
I bought a complete setup from joe…it included 66 cu.ft, 4500 psi SCBA tank with a brand new hydro. (Tank has a total of five years service remaining.)..Came with 3 foot stainless steel microbore hose and a 6000psi, liquid-filled gauge. All the fittings are “hand tighten only” which means you don’t need any wrenches 😀 just tighten by hand…this in itself is a BIG plus!! Got all of this delivered to my front door (in Georgia) for $350.00..had the peace of mind knowing that EVERYTHING was brand new( except tank, but it did have new hydro) that it was all of highest quality and that I could use it with no worries!!! All I had to do was get it filled 😎 😎 😎 My ONLY complaint is with ME…I should have gotten an 88 cu.ft., instead of the 66.
For the few dollars I “might” have saved by piecing a set-up together, I just didn’t feel like it was worth the effort….Joe has an EXCELLENT record with his products and service, and knows what the hell to do with HPA…I know nothing about building HPA stuff, and don’t want to learn..just bought the whole deal..no worries and lots of air 😀 😀 😀 😀
If you can get the parts really not much to it. Just need to find the hpa parts.

I had my local dive shop price out the pieces to build my own, and found joes prices were about the same, and his comes assembled ready to go. I ended up buying two 88 cu ft tanks off ebey that were two years old and looked to be brand new for a hundred bucks each, then ordered the fill station from Joe. He’s a good guy, and his stuff is fairly priced and worth it in my opinion.
