Q:

P-rod deep breathing mod.

After seeing a few guys tune their guns to get more power out of the p-rod.
I noticed they got into the 700’s but lost the number of shot, with the tune.

I want to see what the p-rod would do, if I used a bigger breech seal to let the gun breath more. And leave the tune, the way it was from Crosman.

So I did the same mod that guys have done with the 22xx guns.
I used the ΒΌ water line tubing, to let the gun breath more freely.

So I took off the breech & measured the breech seal on how far it sits above the air tube.
Cut a one inch long piece of ΒΌ water line tubing. Then measured & cut it the same height as the old seal.

Put the gun back together, shot it over the chro.

First off here is a old string shot as it was from Crosman, no tune at all.
Using Crosman 14.3 hp pellets & 3000 psi fill.

Factory setting. Breech seal mod. 22gr pellets

That is three mags 24 shots on all three strings. Which to me is very interesting because by letting the gun flow more air, & not mess with factory setting.

It looks like the new strings is not as tight in ft/sec, but you can gain fpe & not have a loss in shots. The 22 gr Gamo pellets will not group well with the gun.

But the string shows, what kind fpe the gun can make using a heavy pellet.
I think that if your gun like 18gr jsb’s your gun would make 18- 19 fpe.
And still get three mags of shots.

I would have never guest it, & the best thing is that you can just swap out the new breech seal. And your back to the factory setting.

Thanks Steve, guys.

I really like mine & like the 25. m-rod as well.

Good guns for the money & room to hot rod them.
The respond well, to mods. πŸ˜€

The P-rod is sexy. I am slowed to buy one because I have a TSS which gets 60+ good plinking shots. I can take it out to plink with and not need to recharge it whereas the P-rod and M-rod require frequent recharging. The TSS is a single shot, but the shot count and the accuracy are very good. The P-rod has a very limited shot count by comparison. If I didn’t have the TSS, I would be very interested in the P-rod…not as a pistol, but as a repeating carbine.

Of course, my .25 caliber Marauder has become “my go” to gun. πŸ˜‰

20fpe out of a pistol 2″ shorter (with stock) than a Talon SS is great! and a repeater to boot. I think Crosman had AF’s number trying to produce that pistol.

That’s looks good FB. I may have to get one of those. I really like it with the stock attached.

Well, Crosman is calling it the “Rogue”, so my guess is that it will become the “R-Rod”. I know this is really crazy, but it may just stay the “Rogue”.

Oh, hi Walter, I didn’t see you standing there.

In an earlier life, Roachcreek was a pigeon in Central America. This is one of the few pictures of him, in that life, known to exist! Oddly, that little kid grabbed a stick and beat Roach to death, hence his reference to “sticks”. It’s called “Encoded Genetic Memory” from an earlier life.

Catchy name Walter, and descriptive also.

I always found using heavier pellets, Monsters to be exact (no pun intended), in my 2240/Disco carbine significantly raised energy levels.

POS

Necrosis,

like Hoot said, their slang names for the pistol & rifle.
Anytime Hoot, I thought it would be good info to share.

ssshooter, I don’t have any pics of doing the mod.
But it is super easy to do.
If you need help I can walk you thought it. πŸ˜€

The gun did get a little louder, but not too bad.
I can’t tell if it was quiter, using the 22gr or not. πŸ™„

But I’m really happy with mod, I’ve done & what is cool about is I got a little more fpe, with no loss of the shots.

If you do this mod, & mess with the settings, you will have a loss of shots. 😯

So the gun is right at the edge.

That’s too easy a mod not to do for those results.

I’m impressed with the heavy pellets. The JSB 18.5 would seem to be a very useful rifle/pistol round with the pcp line with these results.

Good info and thank you for sharing. Every little bit helps.

But… what’s a P-rod?

Sigh this sounds a bit too much dick joke prone… pee… rod..?

P-rod is the new Marauder PCP pistol. The M-rod is the Marauder rifle.
Just a quicker way to id the Crosman line today. They seem to be coming out with a lot of new stuff lately.

I wonder what they will call the .357 rifle will be named?

Hoot

That’s impressive… do you have a picture of the mod?

Is it louder with the mod than factory? and does it get quieter with the 22gn pellet instead of the 14gn?

But… what’s a P-rod?

Sigh this sounds a bit too much dick joke prone… pee… rod..?

Ok sorry Hoot.

When I posted the string, all the rows got compressed.

The first row on the left is the factory setting string.

The middle string, is the poly tube mod string.

The last string is the 22gr pellets that were used. πŸ˜€

I think this is the best mod, to use for getting more fpe, & not lose the number of shots.

The breech seal I assume is the Transfer Port on the 22XX models.

A simple modification of the poly tube is very easy.

I am a bit confused about your “Mags” results, with 24 shots each. Your wording is a bit confusing.

Which Mag 24 shot string did NOT use the poly tube?

Which Mag shot string DID use the poly tube?

Which Mag shot string used the 22 gr pellets mentioned?

It appears something changed between Mags, but you really didn’t explain how each Mag shot string was different from the others.

A little language barrier, but a few details will clear this up for me.

Thanks! I’m a little slow minded, but very good looking.
