Because I’m nuts, because I’m crazy..I wanted more power “Arrh! Arrh! Arrh!” .
No thats not it, its because my pal with his .25 Mrod, calls my gun a little gun. In this friendly competition, this simply will not do!
So, I purchased a 18″ .25 cal barrel and a high flow valve from Tony at TT. Nice stuff, hats off to Tony. With a stock Condor hammer weight this puppy is sending a 25.4g .25 JBS in the mid to upper 1000’s fps makin around 63fp with the pw at 6. Thats too fast for accuracy I think.
What is the sweet spot {fps} for .25 cal and is JSB the best pellet choice?

I was shooting .308 out of an M-1A at a steel target 400 yards away. When the bullet struck the target, it made the distinctive “ping”. Great! Then the target started going “KLANK”!!! There was a guy who was shooting the same target with .300 Win Mag. I sure had cartridge envy to be sure. I consoled myself with the knowledge that my M-1A had 20 in the box vs. his 5 rounds in the bolt rifles magazine. Ya I know, accuracy over firepower. 😀

so here is the deal as most on here know ive done the quest for high power shooting if u check on here u can find alot of my results right now im shooting my 25 at 1070 with 31grn barracudas hole in hole at 45yds and im also getting 110fpe with the 43grn pellets with 1.5in groups at 50 yds those eunjins dont like my gun too much i need to buy some of jerrys heavy slugs to see what this gun can do im figuring around 130fpe with some more tuning
Well, I kinda wondered how the new .25 Predators and the .25 Benj’s compair to the JSB’s. Tony at TT highly recommended the .25 Benj’s.
I have played with the polymags..in .177 cal they were the best pellet for the springers..so I’m gonna have to try them in the pcp.
In another thread someone shooting the polymag at 950fps had a real nice group at 50yards.
Tunned the gun down to mid 900’s, and will do some shooting at 50 yards to see if groups get better.
So, I will try the Benj’s and the Predators in the next few weeks.

You’re probably right that mid to upper 1000’s is bad for accuracy. Like …67, lot’s of guys are getting good results in the mid 900’s.
I did some testing with a .32 pellet the other day and got some interesting results. I was using the Woodsman tethered and changing the pressure to adjust velocity of the 46.8gr pellet. Unlike the usual solid base slugs I usually shoot with this gun, these were actual pellet shaped pellets. They are a design Barnes is messing with for his pistols but he wanted some high power results so I did some shooting.
The interesting thing is that at 42 yards with the pellets starting out at an average of 1179fps (measured 8 feet from the muzzle), they grouped great! I put 4 inside a half inch and one shot opened the group to just under an inch. I was plenty surprised.
Dialing the gun down to an average of 1030-50 opened up the group considerably and I didn’t bother measuring.
Going dow to 840 gave me a crappy group but dialing back up to 972 resulted in a real nice tight group again.
I think that when I shot at aroung 1050 I was right in the transonic range that is worst for pellet flight. That means the pellet that got buffeted had the full distance to the target to continue with any error that airflow creates. The ones I shot at 1179 slowed down to transonic somewhere along the way but the range they traveled after going transonic was so small that they were still grouping.
At least that’s my theory. I’ll have to try them again at 100 yards to see if the 1179 shots open up while the 972s track straight…
i shot .25 cal around 950 fps and jsb are by far the most accurate pellets in my .25 cal

For my barrel, the Benjis are best so far.
They are grouping fantastic at 980fps, but I have really good results at 1020 too.
The trajectory is quite flat. With a 30y zero, I’m not quite 2 dots low at 100y, and grouping right around an inch most times.
I have no problems shooting the JSB either. Accuracy wise they are almost identical to the Benji for me. But once past 70 yards or so, they don’t buck the wind as well and I almost NEVER get a calm day around here.
