that’s cool, because otherwise, after you have centered your scope, you will turn your cross hair to the POI, so.. decentering 🙂

Now that you mention it, I have been itching to get a set of the burris premium rings…

Good point. If a 360deg rotation is still zero then you have a 100% centered scope. It’s the same exercise with a cardboard box with two V cuts and a rotation – I completely forgot about that technique.
Interesting, I noticed something similar, but wouldnt it be easy to test for a problem? – after you optically center rotate the scope 180 degrees and if goes alignment then you know you have a problem, right?
I pulled a couple unmounted scopes out and was surprised at how far out one was.

Was just browsing idly. Can’t remember when I looked here last and was not registered. Found this and was struck by how far the “butterfly” had flown to Romania and thought to register the credits to Bruce.
Thanks for the welcome but not having a Talon I am not sure I have a lot to offer here. I’m sure they are a fine bunch and I know they are dedicated to their innovative rifles, All good ….. Kind regards, Harry.

I attribute this technique first to J. Bruce Aurand who presented it to the Yellow Forum some years ago. It can be found there in the Archives and I believe that was the first posting of the technique. It has frequently been referred to since.

I just tried it, if you move the mirror angle the hairs move also. So if the retical and the front element are not parralel the mirror will return an offset image. Or if the reflective surface and the glass are not true – same deal.

My zero on the Matador is 50 meters but my zero on the optical center is on the 100 meters, where the magnification is on max. The eye relief is critical tho. I use Burris Signature also. They work best on low-medium end scopes but only at 100 yards max. With regular ring I can see perfect just at 70 meters with the magnification set on max.

Which is why my videos are on hold Wink The gun can do so much better but I must see perfectly what am I aiming for.
