since i doubt i will live long enough(55 years???) for this to be a collector’s item, seems like a waste of money- and quite a LARGE WASTE FOR A GUN WITH SUCH LIMITED USE POTENTIAL. if Crossman had a lick of marketing sense, they would have put this technology in the Marauder and made a worthwhile competitor for the Daystate Mark IV/ Air Wolf at a cheaper price point. as it stands, i seriously doubt they will ever recoup R&D and manufacturing cost. CAN YOU SPELL WHITE ELEPHANT, BOYS AND GIRLS?? one thing seems certain to me- the price for used ones will drop considerably a year or so after introduction- just like the Marauder( and that assumes it is still around).
Good Luck, Crossman- you are going to need it trying to conquer such a SMALL niche market and make a profit.

I think the high price will make this one a rare, Crosman failure.

However, because of that I will likely buy one. I just obtained a vintage Crosman 118 which, at $37.50, did not sell well 55 years ago and has become a nice, valuable collector’s item.

For that kind of coin they can keep that oversized micro chip.

I’d go buy a really nice 6x47L target rifle for that. Or a 1911 pistol, or 2 fucking Glocks… Or three stock 25 Condors, or 2 TT Condor 25’s… Or a FWB FT rifle…

And a partridge in a pear tree… :6:

I watched the video, and found the magazine insertion to be a bit awkward, a lever behind the bolt that I don’t quite understand….other than it gets in the way, and a cocking bolt WAY too short to easily grasp. Why would they make it so short? Is there a cock shortage at Crosman?

It cocks like the $30 Crosman shit rifle from Wallymart. 😕 The guy in the video had nothing but problems, even with his little stubby fingers. 😆 Just kidding, seriously, for $1500 i’d expect something that actually works well… 😯

$1500 for that? No mention for how may shots, nuttin.

Not to mention it looks like a fucking airsoft rifle. 🙄

Das “U” Bolt?
To load it, you have to push the bolt forward, upward, and pull it backward. Then, shove it forward again, unless it sticks…which it did, then pull it down, then pull it back again to lock it in place. A feature they failed to advertise. A double “U” manuver…is that necessary?

Times Square Revisited
The right side of the Rogue breech is so crowded and busy, it makes Times Square look like a lonely country road.

They would have found a much better market had they put that E-valve in the Marauder .22 and .25 calibers, allowing the shooter to electronically, and precisely, meter his air pressure release, incrementally, from lowest to highest fps/fpe. No chrony needed, ballastics easily pre-programmed on the chip and display. All you would need to do is enter the pellet weight. Now, that would be better than an unadjustable, regulated rifle/pistol! And it would be so easily done! Pop an LW barrel in that rascal, then you have something to brag about. I think most shooters would part with $1000 for an improved “E-Marauder”, faster than paying $1500 for a large bore, quiet, pig rifle that probably costs a buck a round to shoot.

Just my thoughts, and fine thoughts they are…if I do say so myself!

Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot 😯

When the novelty wears off the price will plummet.

Then it will be like most big bore airguns out there and just sit in the gun case for show and tell.

It sure will be the conversation piece at the shooting range though and that is enough for some to buy it.

Then again the coyote population might get decrease a bit from upstair windows while people watch television non the wiser.

I see the Rogue being discontinued within two years, probably less

I know, I know
there are other AGs out there for the same or more money
but are we REALLY going to compare Crosman to Daystate, Theoben, Styer, FWB?

didn’t think so

I DO think the pricing is reflective of the manfacturing cost versus the number of Rouges Crosman thinks it can sell
consider the costs of just tooling up for the magazines for such an extremely niche market item.

Being realistic there just isn’t a large market regardless whether it turns out Good or Bad
the real market for this rig is one thats not that obvious to Air Gun folks and thats public sector animal control…ie Cop Shops
I can see a Rouge being used by LEOs for dog elimination, at least that will be the excuse for applying Tax dollars on a $1500.00 boondoggle plus they already have access to HPA through FDs and Emergency service units at the City & County level
Quite a few integrally suppressed Marlin Camp Carbines have already been built and sold for this purpose
also remember Big Bore AGs are already in use to cull deer herds in many urban areas…New Jersey has allegedly been using DAQs for some years now to this end and the rules that regulate hunting really don’t apply to the regulators themselves

$1500.00 is a drop in the bucket to most City, County, muchless State & Federal agencies and if the Rouge survives it will be due to sales there, not to the civilian sector
still Government/LE sales is a brave new world for Crosman marketeers
well outside of sales made decades ago to the military of the venerable CR160

Slayer,

Yes I think the Ranger is a better deal, and for 100 bucks more than the Rogue, you can get it in two different calibers. Or for the same price you can get the Ranger with a nice quality scope.

But I have not compared the Ranger to the Rogue as far as the noise level, I supsect the Ranger is a tad bit louder. 😯

Roachcreek

Is that Ranger for sale (buying the new crossman?)
I think not. lol but if it is let me know first please. 😆
The ranger would be an example of a better choice in a big bore I would think? I do agree that this helps air gun technology for all of us they have some good ideas.

I have a 9mm Shing Sung. It shoots great but makes so much noise I could almost be shooting my 22 with subsonic ammo. You can get too much air gun for most of what we use them for. Once in a while you can take it hunting away from where people live. Still I gave 300 for my 9 and don’t believe the Rouque will be that much better. It can’t shoot any more accurate or much stronger so go figure if you need one.

I think it will be shit cascading down hill ….
Roachcreek

Earthquakes, Famine, Tsunami’s, Fires, Nuclear Meltdowns….but “shit cascading down a hill…“???

I hope I never live long enough to look up and scream, just before I am engulfed, as it covers my disbelieving, bulging eyes.

However, I believe it would make a most interesting video.

Kindest Regards,

Or buy a Ruger 44 bolt action, then have a intrical legal silencer made for it by one of the better shops, load it to subsonnic velocities with 300 grain plus bullets. If your using cast bullets make sure the design of the can is such that you can take it apart easily for cleaning.

It was nice that Crosman has the team and guts to do the Rougue, unfortunately it was a answer to a question that no one had asked.

The real benefit is how this technology cascades down to future products, unfortunately for their sales team I think it will be shit cascading down hill until they get some new products out next year.

Regards,

Roachcreek

Your right in your area. no silencers allowed in NJ (we must all be criminals.) lol
Most parts of the country your better off with the old 10/22 ruger and subsonic ammo than a pellet gun. No substitue for a larger hole no matter what. 😆

Get a 22 rimfire rifle at walmart for $150… Buy a legal silencer with tax for another $500. Use the remaining $850 on ammo, beer, and new york strips for the BBQ.
