Got my SS back from Talon Tunes today..
I absolutely love it! With the new shroud, its incredibly quiet compared to before, and everything seems so smooth. I was easily getting 30+ shots on a fill without any real drop in fps. Still can’t claim the prize for quietest gun in the house, but it’s a lot better than waking up the world with the Condor. I noticed something I have a question about though. My groups would shift position dramatically depending on the range I was at. Vertically they were fine but for example, at 15 yds everything was dead on. At 40 it was hitting almost an inch to the right. And at 60 it was hitting close to dead on again and maybe to the left a little bit. When I shot up in the air and watched the pellet fly it looked like it was flying in a huge corkscrew type path. I know these little predators seem to love speed in the condor, so is this maybe all that the problem is?

I thought you might have changed the rings. Often the rings, and more importantly, how they settle into the rails can have a big effect on how well the scope is aligned with the bore. Nothing seems to be as annoying as mounting up a new scope and sighting in, just to find that the bore line and scope line are intersecting!
When you changed scopes, did you change the rings? Take them off the gun?
When I purchased the hawke scope I bought a new set of rings for the condor but they where the same type of rings Bkl self centering. I put the original set of rings on my talon and they worked fine on the rifle with different scope

Thanks for all the help guys. I took it apart and swabbed out the barrel good and it seems to have helped. It’s raining here so I haven’t done any bench shooting to see for sure what its doing, but just bracing it on the porch it seems to be hitting center at 15 20 and 40 yards. Corkscrew looks like it’s tightened up quite well, it’s still there if you look closely but it’s not as noticeable. Looks like those barrel pixies were just getting a little to crowded in there. Also I started paying more attention to making sure i wasn’t canting the gun at all which hopefully will help with future shots.

very true, you get what you pay for. i learned that the hard way, i have Hawke scope now great scopes for the money.
Spending less than $200 on a scope is a false economy. It’s something I remind myself every day from hard won experience. I’m planning on buying my next scope before my next gun so that I don’t “cut corners”.
i had the same problem with my rifle i tried everything and nothing worked. i sent it over to talon tunes to get modded and when i got it back it still did the samething. at 15 yards i was shooting dead on, but 30 or 45 yards i would shoot a mildot off to the right. at times it pissed me off because i would shoot off to the right at 45 yards and then off to the left at 60 yards. i asked tony if he had any problem sighting my rifle in and he said, no. so i changed the barrel and it was still shooting off to the right i tried another .22 cal barrel and even .25 cal barrel and it always shot to tright at 40 yards. i decided to buy a new scope thinking maybe it was the scope and sure enough when i got the new scope all the problems went away. i was no longer shooting off to the sides.
try a different scope and see if it still shoots off to the right.
Barrel and receiver are guaranteed not to be the same. So a combination of optical center and correct cant fixed the problem.
I agree though – if it’s crossing over the horizontal twice then something else may be happening. I was just sharing my hard won experience.
Yeah, but the shot is crossing back over again when he shoots further out. Misaligned scope would just kick out one way worse the further you went.

Kind of sounds like a misaligned scope.
If it’s not a cork screw it could be a few of other things… accidentally canting the gun is easy with the AF bore/scope height, see if a subtle cant changes your POI. I found that I had to force a tiny cant when I mounted my scope to guarantee 10,20,30 yards had the some horizontal POI.
Another thing to try is windage scope mounts so that your scope is optically centered. This will help keep the croshairs set at all ranges.
I did a combination of both before I locked my scope down. A few final turret adjustments and the scope has been dead-on for 18 months. TSS 177 12″ Kodiaks range 10-40 yards.

Some people get rid of that cork screw effect by cleaning their barrel. Ted in Madison was having trouble with his Edgun doing the corkscrew, he even got it on video, and I think he was using a LW barrel on the Edgun.
When he cleaned the barrel the corkscrew went away, but I think it has been a recurring problem for him, but of course he is the one to ask.
You might clean it and take another cloud shot and see if it improves.

One other factor could be loading. Don’t be too casual or haphazard when loading the gun. A pellet not properly seated in line with the bore will not magically self correct! If it does get square, it will have been due to a violent process that can’t be good for anything.
Try sorting out a set of good pellets without crap inside and with clean skirts etc. Then load them with diligence to start them straght and load to the same depth. That might help.
