What’s SHAKIN around Greenbrier Arkansas?
Small earthquakes nearly continuous for weeks that I’ve been watching my earthquake alert app. And they appear very concentrated.
Is that a sign the New Madrid fault is getting restless or is it normal for that area?
A New Madrid event could do damage all the way to New York due to the more solid composition of the crust.

You know, I had a feeling you were a cork soaker.I bet you were soaking cork since you were young. Did you ever soak two corks at the same time???

I live on a mountain. If my dog and I go, the rest of you mutts are in serious trouble.
Roberts444….Back in 1857, just after the Civil War ended, the whiskey industry started up mass production in the North. Within these facilities, new efficient aging techniques were being tested.
One of these new fangled ideas was drilling a hole in the charred Oak whiskey barrels, and plugging them with a natural cork stopper. By not putting iron bands around the top of the barrel lid, it became easier to open and taste the contents. The whiskey could then be sampled within minutes and the barrel re-plugged.
Rather than use a new cork each time, the owners would hire an inexpensive local drunk to lick the cork off, and replace it back into the barrel. These men were known in the factory as “Cork Suckers”.
Since most of these individuals had a very limited education, they were often referred to as “Stupid Cork Suckers”.
There is no purpose to the above statement. But…it is good to know.

I’m just glad nothing happened while I was driving through on my annual trip to Oklahoma from Tennessee. That 12 hour drive is hell enough without any earthquakes.
The last time it let loose, the Mississippi river flowed BACKWARDS for several miles. Rend Lake was formed as a result of the movement of earth surrounding the fault.
In Arkansas, it is recommended to purchase earthquake insurance, as the New Madrid fault would have serious repercussions for up to 1000 miles from its epicenter. This is due to the bedrock formation that exist out from that particular tectonic plate formation. St. Louis is probably going to experience near total destruction due to it’s old buildings being brick and mortar, and the new construction not being specified for quake resistant construction.
The last quake was in the late 1800’s. The next one is due any time, so don’t be surprised when it cuts loose.
Hoot in your area Is flood insurance all so recomended? For your sake I hope that big one never hits in your area. It could wipe out the dams that are protecting you from Lake Dardanelle draining into your back yard….Oh ya then there is the nuclear power plant you have to worry about.

.. WOW, talk about a double whammy:!: ❗
What if the New Madrid does its destructive thing and loosens up the 25 mile X 37 mile Yellowstone super volcano:?:
I remember reading that the magma chamber was only 1-2 miles below the surface but as Bob Smith said, they became very concerned so they did a quick recalculation. They didn’t dare publish their new recent 25 inch uplift data and create a panic. So they had to push the magma chamber 10 miles deeper.
Who can you believe ❓
Read it yourself and be skeptical about a recent change of a long accepted depth of only 1 to 2 miles.
No, I didn’t hijack my own thread on earth quakes in Arkansas. H00T expanded it to 1000 miles of little boys in shifty pants. 😆
I beleive that the quakes and also the weird noises Ive been seeing on the web are connected to fracking . I cant prove it , but it seems to be related .
Few people realize how powerful the New Madrid fault line is.

Return me to office and I shall reap entitlements upon all my children! The working scum have reaped their harvest too long, and now it is time to redistribute their wealth among those who are poor.
Hillary hath pulled their armament, and I shall render them penniless, powerless, and their children shall lament all their days.
WHAT ISN’T HAPPENING IN ARKANSAS THE PAST 8 to 9 DAYS:?: ❓ ❓
DAMN, there aren’f any small earthquakes ❗
…since this thread started ohio made the oil/gas assholes stop FRACTING in N.E. Ohio and the unprecedented quakes in that area stopped. Last week or so it was announced that they are certain that FRACTING in Virginia was the cause of the damage and closing of the Washington monument. Of course the F’n FRACTORS quickly put out two confusing studies that did not refute anything but I could see how they will probably quote some of it out of context to develope future lies.
JUST MAYBE the FRACTORS could no longer buy off the Arkansas government:?:
Strangely, S.E. Missouri New Madrid area started having a bunch of small concentrated quakes for the past week.
So, like the Kingston Trio sang, “What nature doesn’t do to us, will be done by our fellow man.”
We think we are such hot shit as Human Beings!
In fact, we are just parasites on the skin of the Earth, and we are destroying the balance of nature, climate, and resources.
It is inevitable that over population will eventually result in a “culling of the herd” through disease, starvation, war, water shortages, fuel shortages, and with the help of the cyclical natural disasters such as ice ages, ozone changes, loss or reversal of the Earth’s magnetic field, super volcano eruptions anywhere on Earth, and our old friends the asteroids and comets that come buzzing around now and then.
We would like to think we are eternal and have been here forever and will be here forever. Well….think again. We are the last mammalian species to evolve. We’ve been around in human form for perhaps one or two million years…the blink of an eye in geological time frames. Our population has been “over fertilized” through technology giving us artifically large crop production, clean water in abundance, and holding off the attrition of disease, old age, and permitting an abnormal number of our offspring to survive. 100 years ago, in 1911, if a farm family had twelve children, they were lucky if five of them made it to age twelve.
None of this became possible until the industrial revolution, and the technology bursts brought about by two world wars.
We are living on borrowed time. We can’t sustain life on this planet at the current rate of population increase and resource depletion.
The Earth will restore balance the way it has for almost 4 billion years…it will destroy most of its living creatures, through one or more of the above means, and start over. Mass extinctions are the rule, not the exception, on planet Earth. Few people realize that.
During the last 4 billion years, there were hundreds and hundreds of millions of years in which civilizations similar to ours could have arisen, peaked out, and disappeared with no trace. How? Easy. The Earth’s tectonic plates fold under each other every several hundred million years and all trace of what was there is destroyed when it plummets into the Earth’s core. That’s why our oldest fossils are only hundreds of millions of years old at best. The Earth’s crust before that has been recycled many many times.
We think we are the greatest thing that ever happened. Fact is, Earth, or God if you will, may have had many species of intelligent civilizations in the past 4 billion years that came and went.
The ultimate recycling program…bigshots!
Sleep tight my little parasites!

HOOT,
Sister Mary Clueless is a lot like most of the people in this country. They have no idea why USA is not mentioned in the books of prophesy about the end times. I believe this generation will see (or not survive) the next 10 years. Yellowstone super volcano magma is relatively close to the surface and unlike Hawaiian volcanos, Yellowstone magma is the explosive type. It’s about to add another layer to the surface. It’s estimated that my area of western Ohio will get about 1 foot of the corrosive ash that will turn concrete like when washed into the sewer systems. Anybody got a good plan on how to quickly rebuild the storm and sanitation systems of most of the USA in a hurry ❓
😆
I only spent 2 years and 1 month in the ’50s, so I don’t remember any of it… 😥 😥 😆 😆 😆
What’s the 50’s???
😆
That’s my job Waldo…to bring harsh reality to the ignorant masses that visit these forums. Life is cruel and unexpected. Like the time, back in 1954, Jim Brassie was spanking his monkey, and decided to use some 10W motor oil to reduce friction. He rev’d up his strokes per minute, his hand flew off his unit, and since he was a “thumbs up” stroker, he put his right eye out. He told the nuns at school he shot it out with his bb rifle.
Sister Mary Clueless thought it was terrible that all us boys laughed so hard when she told us about Jim’s unfortunate loss, and cautioned us to be careful with bb guns.
That wise ass, Ronnie Shryock yelled out “Those things usually don’t put your eyes out when they go off, but sure makes ’em roll back into your head!” The guys almost shit themselves. The girls present just didn’t get it…which made us laugh all the harder.
Anybody whose been in a parochial school in the ’50’s knows what I mean.
Kindest regards,
Kindly ‘Ol Uncle Hoot
