Pre existing threaded holes in trigger-bar
I have a new talon and after reading threads about trigger mod’s and looking at my rifle I have found that there are two pre-existing threaded holes in front of my trigger in the trigger bar. One (most foward) that’s apparently for the over-travel and the other is just in front of the trigger dead center a spring. Both of these holes are threaded. For the life of me… I can’t figure out what the hole in front of the trigger would be for. Any ideas?

dose anyone know if “The Edge” trigger group is the same as the other a/f guns????? my guess is that the other hole would be for “The Edge” as all the breaches are now cumming with “The Edge” notch in them as well so it just makes sense in my feeble little mind
I’ve been using it as a over travel control.

That’s exactly how mine is. Now if anyone can tell me why this hole is tapped/threaded? I guess it could have been used for some factory jig or something…beats me! Maybe it is a child proof lock for sure because on mine if you screwed a set/grub screw in deep enough it would surely lock the trigger.
Mine came factory tapped and the hole is smaller than the ID of the spring so the set screw goes threw the spring and does not load it.
As I see it, if it pushes against the trigger spring which is a trigger return spring that would only increase the pull weight. Believe me, I wish this was true on my gun but it’s not. To pre-load my tigger I will have to install a set-screw from above under the breach, somewhere above the over-travel screw in the bottom.
As you turn in the rear screw (from the bottom) it will pre-load pressure on to the trigger spring…..I can’t explain it any more simple than that..
I guess all the newer guns are coming like that..Bought my TSS new in mid-Feb., and it too had the drilled/tapped screws. And I just happened to have the correct screws in my hardware drawers, so it was REALLY nice/easy!! 😀
How does the rear screw hole adjust pre-load? As I see it, it would only block the trigger from being pulled. I mean the screw actually would go through the coil spring on the trigger!
I even took the trigger/guard off and looked from the bottom and I don’t see how it could be used for pre-load. The only way I can see an adjustment for pre-load is to drill and tap the pre-load hole as in the mod intructions for the older rifles.

JEEZ—LOOK AT THE PICTURE (drawing)!!!!!! The rear hole is for the pre-load, and the front if for the over-travel……..

Perhaps a 2nd hole for a safety screw?
The overtravel position can be adjusted to not let the sear engage so the rifle will not cock. A 2nd screw would allow to leave the overtravel adjustment alone, and the 2nd screw could be set to not let the rifle fire.
Great security if you have kids.
But thats probably not it, just the only thing that comes to mind.
So JD, you have one of the new AF guns with the holes already drilled and tapped?
I’ve already checked there and there is some reference to the pre existing hole for over-travel but nothing about the other threaded hole just in front of the trigger. I just can’t figure why they would have threaded this hole as the screw would go through the center of a spring and bear on the trigger itself. Beats me. 🙄

I too have the new pre tapped ss and did the over travel. But I was wondering what the other tapped hole was for aswell? It goes through the spring I can’t see that working for preload, preload would have to be on top?
