Q:

Funny accuracy issue

Just took the Edgun to the range today to test accuracy etc and was stacking them consistently into o e hole at 25 yards. Some five shot groups were no wider than a pellet, literally. However, at 50 yards the groups pretty much sucked. The best were 1 inch groups maybe?
How can that be?
I was shooting JSBs 15.9 at about 950fps as well as 18gr at about 905fps.
Any thoughts?

tonaka hammered at everything I was going to mention. If your barrel is fouled with lead, the gun will hold accuracy at short range. But, the fouling will cause pellet instability at longer ranges. This will definitely open things up.

I’d clean that barrel. If you shoot it right after cleaning, it will likely take 30 shots to get things back on track. Or, you can wait a day before you shoot it, and the solvent will be almost completely evaporated from the barrel – taking only a few shots to resume POI.

Thanks guys, I’m very happy with thins gun dont get me wrong. I’m sure I will figure the accuracy out sooner or later. about the accuracy. I was mainly wondering about the difference in accuracy between 25 and 50 yards, not complaining about the overall accuracy. Going from 1 tiny hole at 25 yards to over 1 inch at 50 doesn’t seem proportional.

Check out the bottom of the JSB’s. If some are dented and out of round, it can cause some drift en-route to the target.

Be sure your scope is on real tight too.

Other than that, the only other thing I can think of to cause inaccuracy of an Edgun is tectonic plate movement. Are you in California? Be sure you are on the same tectonic plate as your target!

My Edgun shoots JSB 18.1 gr very accurately at 920fps out to 50 yards. Decided to make them fly hotter and went up to 950-970fps and they started to fly all over the target.
Another thing to check is how dirty your barrel is. I mean it is good to clean it very well. Such a gun as Edgun will be accurate out to 25 yards even with dirty barrel. My Edgun’s barrel gets dirty.
I don’t know what scope you’re using but my scope sucks so out to 50 yards I have to place my head at exact same position every time to keep it accurate because the scope is not optically centered/adjusted or whatever the term they use for it 🙂
And one more thing; I don’t know when you ordered your JSB 18 gr but the recent batch was not such a good quality ones. I just ordered some and when I shot my old ones they shot well but the ones from new tins had many flyers. I read on the yellow that many guys had the same problems with recent JSB pellets.
I hope you’ll sort it out. They are one of the best guns out there in my opinion.

Scope, hold, wind, barrel, velocity, anything really. Try some different pellets.

My 12″ TSS is great to 40 yards – can get them 1/4″ apart but beyond that I have trouble.
