Q:

Advice Needed

I have a Talon SS in .22 and really love the compact feel of it but…want to get something in .25. My question is has anyone put an 18″ .25 barrel on a talon and if so what velocity could I expect in .25? My other question is should I just keep my Talon SS as is and just buy a new Condor in .25?

I have an 18″ .25 cal barrel. Currently I am running JSB Kings 25.4gr from 880-910-880 over 30 shots(about 45fpe). I do this with a 2650psi fill down to about 2100psi. I am also pushing SureFire 7 rings from 760 – 780 – 740 over 10 shots(about 90fpe). For this I am going from 3200psi down to 2600psi.

chupa…

thats one hell ov an avatar ya got there…looks like Hoot is celebrating halloween early! 😯 😆

Just ordered the wokbutt and got on the waiting list for a wokgard 15! I feel the same way you do about getting a good setup…once you have it don’t mess with it. I’m ordering the Condor and will get an 18″ barrel at the same time. I’ll post some strings with the 18″ barrel as soon as everything comes in.

El Chupacabra your as bad as me, i had a budy give me a box of shells one time for a calliber i did not have , and i went and bought a rifle for them. 😆

Ideally you could have your SS and change out the parts to make it what ever you wanted, The 24″ barrel and condor hammer weight and tank valve makes the gun into another world of a killing machine.

I have not had the 12″ barrel on my condor .22 , but i have wanted to by one and try it out, but from reading it makes the gun way less efficient on air, and shot count.

I keep my condor at 950 fps or so with 14 grain pellets mostly, and it is a killing machine, have tuned for the jsb’s all three weights and the Kodiak , as well as the heavy eunjin pellets.

for birds and squirrels this is all i have needed, without going to the heavier pellets. even cat size critters fall like a bolt of lightning with this set up, with head shots to the back of the ear forward angle, up to 72 yards is my longest shot like this.

you give up allot of gun with the .22 in 12″ barrel , but i can fully understand getting another gun even knowing how modular these rifles are, when my condor is tuned in and running perfectly , the last thing i want to do is re tune to another pellet.

Less expensive way out , change out parts, COOLER WAY. buy another rifle.

😉 SO any way let us know how the .25 runs for you,. 🙂

My last two pellet rifles were from AOA best service I have ever found for pellet rifles. You can call and talk to somone and they actually know what they are talking about. lol
If you have the $ the Talon Tunes custom .25 is unbeatable from the reviews I have read.

The TalonSS I have is a tack driver and ultra portable so I think I’ll keep it as is. I’ve been wanting a Condor for a while so I think my mind is made up to get one in red. I’ve got a lot of furry nut crunchers that are usually within 50 yds but once I start dropping them they tend to keep their distance (70 to 100 yds). I bought 4 tins of .25 predators from Pyramyd to see the difference between them and the .22 and can’t wait to get something to shoot them out of. Looks like a Condor in red and .25 is in the immediate future! I ordered my Talon from Airguns of Arizona 5 years ago anyone know if they are still as good now or would you reccomend someone else to order it from?

Velocity will vary on pellet weight, fill pressure, power wheel setting, etc, etc, etc……lots of guys have swapped the barrels around in to every imagineable combination of lenghts and calibers.
If you can afford it, I would definitely say just buy a .25 caliber Condor with a 24″ barrel and then order an 18 inch barrel as well…you’d have all your bases covered that way!!
