Got a laser today

Got a laser from dealextreme. A little hard to adjust but I got it done in about 10 minutes. For $15 it is just great. It needs a weaver type base. I got a UTG 11mm to weaver adapter online for about $10 and the UTG bipod added about $21 In addition to functioning as a bipod the bipod also protects the laser from taking knocks. The complete bipod / laser set up cost me less than $50.

I came up with a solution in chairgun that allows me to solve elevation +/- .2 inches from 7 yards out to about 47 yards without needing to know the range. Open the tolerance to -.5 inch and we are good to 52 yards. This is just fantastic. You can go closer than 7 yards but using the scope is more trouble than its worth. I know the laser is below POI at this range so unless I need precision just put the dot below the target and your are going to hit it

Here is how it works. I zero both the scope and the laser at 30 yards. When looking through the scope if the laser dot appears below the cross hairs the point of aim is exactly half way between the laser and the cross hairs, easy to do with a mildot scope. When the dot is over the cross hairs you use the cross hairs. Beyond 52 yards you need to dope for range, no way around it. However, I cant see taking many shots beyond about 45 yards, so this technique solves better than 90% of the shots I am likely to take. . Dont know if this is a common practice – with Charigun the solution just jumped off the graph at me.
