Q:

New Talon owner

I just picked up a used Talon in .22 cal. with an 18″ barrel and a 12″ barrel with both HPA tank and CO2 tank and adapter. Now it’s time to start adding on. The first two items I am looking for is a good light (with red lens) and a laser both with remote switches. This Talon willl be used mainly for starlings, mice, and rats. It will also be used on occasions for squirrel and rabbit hunting but these are not the main uses. I intend to stay on CO2 for most of my shooting but might fill the HPA tank for winter use. Any and all suggestions for setup and addons are greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Garry Teeple

You need to know the .177 cal needs a change in the valve spring in the tank to avoid tank dumps.

Is this also true on CO2?

No.

There are three tanks from AF and one CO2 adapter….

* Talon Tank – suitable for all calibers.
* Condor 177 – suitable for all calibers. Wasted air on short barrels.
* Condor 22 – suitable for 22 and 25 caliber only. Tank dump otherwise.
* CO2 adapter fits a paintball CO2 tank and will work on all guns.

Are you going to use the 18″ barrel? Cause if not ill buy it from ya 🙂

I’m keeping the 18″ barrel; I’ve still not decided about the 12″ barrel, might trade it for an 18″ .177 at a later date.

Take a look here:

Couple of good options for what you’re looking for.

Cheapest options are… buy a quality LED Laser flashlight from Home Depot or Lowes. They usually have 1″ OD, so some scope rings will hold it to your gun. Some have dual color, red and white.

For the laser… I’ve used a cheap BSA Rimfire Laser from Academy that mounts directly to your rail. There’s a trick if you want a lower mount – get a daisy red dot sight – remove it’s mount and flip them upside down – then mount the BSA to the gun. Don’t forget a little blue loctite in the laser adjustment screws as they are too loose from factory.
