Q:

trigger for a remington 22 model597 HELP

i got a 597 semi-auto. the trigger really sucks.got to be 5lbs or more.any help would be much appreciated.like where i might get a replacement with less pull weight.or who might do a trigger job or what springs i need to do it myself. ❓ 🙁 🙁 😳

I am sure mine could use some tweeking, but I really have no trouble shooting it. maybe it is just a bit better than normal by a stroke of luck or something, but I definately will consider some of these tweeks.

See what happens when I leave, didn’t I always tell people how much those triggers sucked? 😆

I took my brothers apart and filed/polished the sear down. Also found a little spring (don’t know where from) and put it in there to lighten it. Still isn’t great by any means, but it is much better. Still pretty heavy, but now it has very little creep. It can be made into an OK trigger, it will never be very good, but it can become acceptable.

I will say though, if you can find an aftermarket trigger, just do that, a lot easier and you won’t risk messing anything up by polishing too much.

I don’t have time for more searching, lazy I guess, work has picked up 100% for me, so off to work I go, I O, I O, so of to work I go, with no play time for my favorite toys. Which is a very good thing, weekends are mine and monday’s holiday I will play 😛
