Q:

How wide is the forestock on the ED Gun?

I am doing a bull pup project using a BSA Techstar .22 platform. I am down to making the stock, and have a few questions. The thickness of the forestock is one. How wide is the forestock on the ED Gun, and how much wider than my airtube should I make my forestock?
I am intreaged by the MDF builds some of the guys are using for their bull pup customs. How does it hold up, when coating with bed liner, do you have to prep the MDF, primer, or just spray? The surface seems awfully shiny, and the end cuts are very porus. What do you guys recommed?
What is the best way to cut out for the airtube? I dont have a router table of any fancy machinery. I have a table saw, and drill press, and a good assortment of hand tools. I do have a hand held router. This seems to be the biggest hurdle for me to overcome. Could I get it close and then do a fiberglass bed, or would it be best for the airtube to have a small amount of space for expansion and contraction? I’ve read about guys bedding the receiver are, but not sure about the airtube area.
Thanks in advance for all comment and suggestions.
Terry

Partly why I am so close to Egon……. 😉

But honestly, it would be fun to be able to create something, – but whenever I try it ends in a mess………. 😳

Brilliant, – thanks. Looking forward to it………. 😀

Cheers from Oslo where Egon and I have been firing up two old Italian scooters today that had not been on the road for more than 10 years. Or to be more accurate: Egon and I were watching while my son-in-law was doing the job…. 😳

I so much wish I had those skills, – but I don’t. I am envious though and veeeery impressed. Some more picks would be very nice if you’d bother… 😀

hi terry,

you could make the forestock about 4 mm wider on both side then the tube. After that glue a 4 mm piece of mdf on it and sand it down from 4 till 0 mm to get the angled shape.
I did use a hand router for the inletting, just place it upsidedown and make a side guidance. Then you can make a perfect inletting in small steps.

Can make some pics if you want

you can calculate the side and hight movement to make a hald circle.
