Just got my RWS 48 back from John in PA.
Finally got my RWS 48 back from John Thomas in PA. I am super pleased with his work, he worked his magic on it and it shoots like a dream. I have had it for about 20 yrs and it needed a tune BAD!!! The trigger is phenomenal!!! My buddy refinished the stock and turned it into a fine piece of furniture, well forth the $50 and case of MGD it cost me.

I think the key to springer shooting is consistency. What ever hold you like and are comfortable with stick to it and she will put’m where you want. I found the 48 is way way accurate with open sites. It has that shitty assembly that moves though.
everyone you hear talking says to use an “artillery hold” when i had my 48, i used to hold it like i was fixing to drop the hammer on a .460 Weatherby. never had a problem with not hitting what i was aiming at. springers jump. most people say that you should let it do it’s thing, i never had the benefit of their sage advice when i started, so i just shot them like i would any other gun, draw that sucker down and do whatever it takes to hit what you’re aiming at. just my 2 cents.

I could not get decent accuracy at 50 yards to save my life. Hitting one out of 3 squirrels does not work for me! The gun should be able to do that every time. That leaves 1 out of 3 misses being my fault ! lmao
You springer guys have a knack for that perfect hold.
Harry that is really pretty , makes me want to play around with mine some more. also the M 48 is capable of one hole accuracy at 35 yards , and 1″ and slightly better at 50′ but it is not easy. and i couldnt do this on command, but 3/8″ to 1/2″ at 35 yards, and 1 1/8″ to 1 1/4″ at 50′ is more common.
It sure is allot more work to get the best accuracy out of these springers compared to the Condor . If it’s in its tune any way. 😀
It groups nice usually 3/4in groups at 30 yards and hits hard, but I can still shoot tighter groups with my SS and my thigh doesn’t get sore from constantly having to cock it.
I think that it tends to be more hold sensitive. Just about the time I think I get it figured out, It sends one 2 inches from where I was aiming at :x[/quote

I love using my 1975 .20cal shridan. It’s been rebuilt a few times in its life.
Now it’s time for a complete overhall and a scope.
