bushings
hey i have a question it seem to me that the bushings that hold the barrel in place has alot to say about the accuracy of the gun as to weather it moves when the gun is fired. and when changing the barrel have to re sight in the scope, i know that the older guns had two holes holding these bushings in place and the new ones have four screws my question is i have 3 holes drilled through each of my bushings, the middle two of these are tapped and the two that line up with the holes in the frame are not is this normal also the screws which hold the barrel in place are different lengths in my hast i to change barrels and due to my old age and loss of short term memory i forgot which were which i figured that the short one goes in the holes under the barrel

no i got what you meant before i havnt taken the bushings off the barrel at all the hole with the threads in them dont have any short screws in them to hold the barrel to the bushing if i line them up with the bottom or sides theres no hole for the other screw to go in and the other two holes are the only ones that line up to the frame even if i turn them arround and they dont have any threads at all so the long screw does go throught to the barrel but the bushings dont have any thread they are just drilled so the only point of contact is the frame thread and the screws ends into the barrel the bushings are just floating if you know what i mean i wish i could post a picture this is hard to explain but i dont think this is right i think that the bushings are from an old model when there was only two screws holding the barrel in place could this be right ???
The middle threaded holes on the bushings are only used to secure the bushing to the barrel. If you have the bushings secured to the barrel then the other holes should line up. If they don’t line up, you have one bushing installed backwards.
Start all over: take the bushings off and stack them on top of each other with all the holes aligned properly. Now re-install them exactly like that. Do you have the two dimples on your barrel where the bushing to barrel screws (threaded middle screw hole) set on? These will align the bushings to the barrel and to the frame holes.

ok the holes dont line up on my rifle then there are three holes on mine and the middle ones are the only ones front and back, with threads on if i aline them with the bottom holes the other two dont mach up with the sides..think this gun is cursed dont figure thanks for the explanation
Short screws thread into the bushings and secure the bushings to the barrel, there should be dimples in the barrel where these screws set to align the other bushing holes with the frame holes. The longer of the four frame screws screw into the bottom of the frame, go thru the non-threaded holes in the bushings and secure the bushing/barrel to the frame and the shorter of the frame screws do the same on the side of the frame.

figured it out thanks for your comments its hard to find something thats not there there were only four screws for both bushings the two smaller screws had been removed
