Pellet chamber?
I got a Talon SS a little while ago and I have noticed that the amount of force required to seat a pellet in the breech is a lot less than is required for my Condor. The Condor is quite a bit older about 7 years. Has Airforce started relieving the rifling on the Talon or just the newer guns? I have been wondering what it would do to my condor if a “chamber” was cut in the breech. Has anyone tried anything like this? I am thinking it would help with accuracy because right now it takes a lot of force to seat the pellets in the Condor and I often end up with slightly deformed skirts. I think I would make a piloted reamer to do the cutting. Any opinions on the best method to do this, or am I chasing a skunk?

Yep, both .22 cal, pellets from the same tin. The same phenomenon occurs with all brands and weights of pellets I have tried so far. Some deform less because they have a much heavier skirt, but they are all pretty hard on the thumb to get seated in the Condor barrel.
Just looking at the breech end of my Talon the barrel wall looks thinner, but that could just be an optical illusion. I haven’t measured it to actually see. I guess when work slows down and I have some time I need to slug the barrels and measure to see just what the difference is. Although if there is a psuedo-chamber in the Talon slugging won’t tell me anything other than the tightest place in the barrel. Guess I will have to figure out a way to measure it directly.

Take one pellet and insert it from the barrel end, then take another pellet (same brand and insert it from the breech end…..if the pellet from the barrel end goes in easier than the breech end, then Airforce machined the wrong end of the barrel and you need to replace it. I would talk to them and i would send them the gun or barrel, what ever they say to you from what i hear they are very helpful and fast service.
