Condor – 95 gr hammer
Does a 95 gr hammer require any other changes or upgrades. Are some of these changes nice to have or required when using the heavier hammer.
When using a 95 gr hammer (what is the standard hammer weight ?), will the Condor still be able to use 25 to 32 gr pellets as effectively as when the original hammer was installed ?

Correct. I have one tank that I have set to shoot JSB Kings and one to shoot SurFire 7 rings.
I agree completely. I too have noticed that the hold affects the accuracy with heavier pellets, a lot more than the JSB Kings or .25 Preds (on a .25cal Condor). I also use 2100-2200psi fills for shooting the JSB’s or 25.x grain pellets, and about 2400 for 31gr Kodiaks and heavier ones on my TT Condor with 90gr hammer.
Different flow valves on the tanks. It’s a general # I believe because, the fpe will be different with different pellet weights. The most accurate pellet in my rig is the jsb kings, 25 gn. The second which is very close is bengi domes, 28 gn.
To shoot these pellets I need low pres fills to shoot high 900’s. Start pressure for bengi’s = 2400 psi & kings = 2100 psi.
I have a fully modded AAA condor and weighed the hammer and it was 92 gm.
I have found that hold is more critical with heavier pellets or slugs, but consistency is the key for consistent accuracy.

I have a 85gram hammer and it’s not bouncy on my 45fpe tank. However on the 90fpe tank it’s springer sensitive.
Good info to know – I had sold my magnum springer just for the reason I had to take 10 – 15 shots before the hold was just right. That ain’t no hunting gun !

i agree, the heavy hammer does make the gun jump. what i found is, if you place your off hand on the frame, over the top of the bipod, you can stop the bouncing around. another thing is i shoot with the bipod in the low position, (mine is a 6″-9″ harris) , that seems to be a much steadier platform. something else i’ve been toying with is suspending a 5-10lb. weight, like a downrigger weight, from the bipod. be good for bench or shooting off the back porch. wouldn’t be any good for toting in the woods unless you were sniping a field from a fixed position. besides, i’m already lugging a pair of 5 pounders around as it is, a third one would only get in the way 😆 😆
AirGunner1 its all about holding the gun the same every time, whether its on the sand bags or off hand, with a light powered pcp or a heavy recoiling springer. the more recoil or reaction a rifle has the more you have to pay attention to keeping the gun the same with the recoil with every shot to keep the best accuracy.with a heavy powered pcp its starts acting like a springer, the guns moves more while the pellets are still in the barrel, the reason the gun has to move exzactly the same for each shot for the best accuracy.
Thanks much. I never thought there would be so much recoil it would cause accuracy problems like lifting off the bi-pod.
The only difference will be, you will hear a louder PING when the heavier hammer strikes the top hat to open the valve, and the gun will also recoil more. So you may have to figure out a new hold for the gun. Your groups may not be as great at first after you switch to the heavier hammer, but you ‘ll get the hang of it. I also found out that after upgrading the hammer, my bipod became useless. Apparently the heavier hammer and the extra air released from the tank created so much more recoil, that it was lifting the gun & bipod off the shooting surface. My accuracy went out the window, but I figured it out quickly and once I stopped resting the gun on the bipod, I got most of the accuracy back.
BTW, I am pretty sure Tony/Talon Tunes uses 90gram hammers mostly and with the stock/OEM spring, unless you request a 95.
I personally put my .22 Condor completely back to stock with the stock hammer, etc. and I am much happier. Less noisy, less recoil, and a little more accurate. I can also use the bipod again when shooting.
PS.
I think the stock hammer is 65 grams. The 95gram will shoot the pellets faster. It will not affect the 25-32gr pellets in any other way – just higher velocity.

u may have to adjust your valve, but everything else can remain stock. Some people use different springs, but TalonTunes did my condor and used the 95 with a stock spring.
