Cocking handle screw has sheared off

I’ve been lent a Gunpower Stealth (UK) for a couple of months, which I discover has a couple of ‘issues’. First is that the cocking handle – which is a rather crude metal bobbin, knurled around the waist – keeps coming unscrewed (it’s internally threaded). On investigation, it turns out that the screw has sheared off at some point leaving only a couple of threads for the bobbin to get hold of. The current owner bought it second hand in that state.
I did find an exploded diagram in my searches that I think showed that originally it would have had a machine screw holding the handle on, with a cover over the top. Stupidly I didn’t bookmark it, so now I can’t find it…
Is this screw a known weak point, or is the owner just unlucky? More importantly, what’s the preferred solution for the cocking handle?

Yes , say it my self, but the 3D drawing is pretty good 😉
for the trigger, or put a helicoil in it.
I made a bolt with two small screws, and it works very nice.
I’m a lefty, and the normal handle did unsrew it self every time.

Thanks for the reply – and the excellent CAD drawings! As far as I know (not having had it apart yet) the thread in the breech part is OK, it’s just that the screw has sheared off, but leaving enough thread to get hold of to unscrew it. What size screws are you using for your part?

You can make new treath on 90 degrees, but need then also a new slot
for the trigger, or put a helicoil in it.

Yeah I’m a lefty too and I always have to screw it in while plinking!
