So I downloaded a free app called bullet drop
Pretty cool, however, it requires the ballistic coefficient
I did a bit of research, and doing the up range and down range crony stuff seems like a lot of work
Are there #’s out there for diff pellets ?
Or what is the BC for a .25 kodiak ?

The problem with getting BC off of online charts is that it might be pure BS. That’s why you see the exact same pellet listed with different BC values. What the conditions were and whether or not the values are corrected is never listed. “Here’s a number, go plug it into your calculations…”
If you have at least one chrony, it’s better to figure out your own numbers and know what you have. I did a bunch of work on some custom slugs (for guns I own) and it was useful. I wish I had a really hot .25 right now to go confirm a recent BC number for the heavy slugs.
Very nice rifles! Are any of those sporting a carbon-fiber tube? If so, we make those where I work. DPMS has been one of our customers for a long time.
BC.. As I understand it a BC of 1 would be as good as it gets. The projectile would not slow down at all and drop would be linear over any distance. In other words if the projectile dropped 5″ in 100 yards, it would drop 50″ in 1000 yards. The only factor causing the drop is gravity.
However as we all know, the atmosphere catches the projectile and slows it down so there is no BC of 1 until you get into the vacuum of space. Out there things pretty much travel unimpeded until gravitational forces start bending their path.
Thats a very basic description and I’m sure there are lots of scientific factors you can toss in there to completely confuse the hell out it but I am trying to obey Rule 6.

all DPMS, bought the receivers local , then bought all dpms parts online at midway to build them.
I just went on the ar trip, i bought 3 stripped lowers, all DPMS, 2 308″s and one 223, and i bought a AP-4 dpms at the gun show. 😛 😯 😯

any way i have all the lowers built now, bought all thru Midway. and i still gets the hives when they send me a email about a sale 😕

Gonna go 223 cause I have other guns the same cal, 308 would be nice for sure, but the $ per shot just too high for me

yessir the higher the bc the better the projectile slips thou the air with less drag , so it drops less.

Just starting to explore all this, as of now, BC is a new thing to me
I was amazed that Kodiaks are like .0345 and crow mags are like .0125
Just going by memory from a quick glance, so the BC is how well the projectile flies ?
Higher the # the better it flies?

ChairGun Pro has the BC of 30.6 grain .25 Kodiaks as 0.0370.
Better yet the 31 grain .25 H&N Baracuda is shown as 0.0420.
