Q:

Condor – Frame sealing

I have been hearing that the frames from AIrForce do not have the hard finish that the frames had a few years back.
Is there a recommended finish to apply to create a long lasting seal on the frame coating ?

Any other areas that need a better finish but I start handling/using a new Condor ?

Harry you have their number, give them a call and ask

Adam, I can tell you that my 2 older .25 Condors have a more glossy (true black) finish which is almost scratchless. It is really hard to scratch those older frames, plus they look better, and feel like they have a harder or thicker coating. They look truly anodized like anodized parts are supposed to look and feel.

I got a new frame for my .22 Condor recently from AF, and it’s a dull “greyish” Matte finish that scratches much easier than the others. I do not think their new frames are anodized, and if they are, they did a crappy job anodizing them. The surface feels “rough” and dull when your run your fingers over it. With my 2 other (older) Condors your hand runs over them very smoothly.
They are cutting costs to stay competitive and keep the price of the guns the same despite of inflation and increase in the cost of parts, were the exact words of Air Force customer service. So basically they said to me we are making the guns cheaper or of less quality, so we don’t have to raise the price. My biggest fear is that they are making them off-shore.. In the least they have changed 3d party vendors to save $ and the products are not coming out the same.

The frame is anodized.

You do not need to put anything on it to protect it, thats what the anodizing is for.

Now that my Condor has arrived…It does seem like the frame would pick up hand oil easliy as it is a matt black finish.
Is there a good sealer to use ?

😆

It’s bought alright. Since June 18th. They haven’t received the barrels out of customs yet and expect so very shortly.
