Hi Gearhead, I call this the journey into airguns. We start with a Red Ryder when we are kids and never lose attraction to them. Later we buy a springer, or a pnuematic like a 760,or 392. But along the way we find out about better, more accurate, and more powerful airguns from forums like this. Then we are spending $500+++ on “a BB gun!” 😆 We have discovered PCP guns and we are off to the races. 😉
You have just done what many others have. You bought some of the wonder pellets. The first two looked great, but then things dropped off. You just had a relatively inexpensive lesson. Enjoy! You are smarter now than you were before. 😉 There are guys on this forum who only purchase Kodiaks for thier TSS and they bag all kinds of critters. Basically, they work well and are very CONSISTENT. Don’t stress about velocity, or foot pounds of energy. Concentrate on hitting your target as quietly as possible and physics will do the rest. 😉
Enjoy your journey and keep us in the loop. We enjoy hearing about each other’s success. People who seem to have great success have spent thousands of hours and dollars to get there. They didn’t just buy their success for money alone doesn’t make a marksman, or hunter. Their enjoyment of what they are doing coupled with finding out what works for them has led to their success.
Enjoy, have a great day, Steve
No im shoting these threw a .22 12″. I wanteded power but quite and um hunting small birds largr birds and ground squrrles. 40 to 80 yards. There ok but id rather use my kodiacs h&ns these pellets are ok but not great I gave up after 30 or so. And I could put on my 24″ .22 amd try but id rather use my .25 nosie for nosie. The reason I tryed theae pelleta wS,to get more waight and a 12″ is wY easer to quite with my costom baffles in my frame .but id scrafice powere of accurcey any day
Gearhead, you are shooting these through a Condor? What do you hunt?
Oh I know ill have to shote more that two lol but that all iv had time for lol I keep evey one posted on my thought thou after a fww more
Gearhead, if they work for you, use them. You will have to shoot many more than 2 to see if they are keepers, but remember, opinions are like assholes, everybody’s got one. Go with what works for you.
Lol my cuz said they look like little shotgun slugs with a spike. But they seam to look good and 2 went in the same hole that all iv tryed
Gimmick, that’s the perfect description. Most any pellets perform well up close. But when we open up the distance their performance falls off fast. This effect is made worse when we try to shoot them past 50 yards. In some guns, my favorite Crow Magnum pellet isn’t accurate past 20 yards. You just have to try the different pellets to see what works best in your gun, at the distances that you will be shoooting, and the game that you are trying to take. A boring domed pellet that is accurate will give you far more kills than the sexy magic pellet that is inaccurate at best. Stick with what others are having good results with and you’ll be happier. If you really have the bug to try the new and improved pellet, don’t buy too many until you have tested them. Many guys have a bunch of pellets that are garbage and just take up space from taking advantage of a good deal. Usually, heavy is good.
The ultra light weight gamo non-lead, zinc, harder-than-nails, raptor type pellets are wildly innaccurate. They’re just too light. That being said, there was a guy who bagged a possibly rabid raccoon at 35 yards with a headshot. Supposedly they are so light that they can damage/break the spring in spring type airguns from not providing enough back pressure to cushion the piston as it slams home. High velocity numbers sell more airguns and companies like gamo are not embarassed to over inflate their claims and have even created lighter pellets to justify their claims.
The Predators are awesome, especially in .25 caliber. 😉
Also, I know the manufacturer is adjusting the head->pellet body fitting for better consistency. When I get a new batch I will retest in 177 and 22.
I did an extensive set of tests on the pred and ultra in 22 on a 24″ Condor. While the ultras don’t look as clean as the preds… the ultras shoot far better out of a LW barrel and don’t seem speed sensitive, running at 1080fps without a hiccup.
The ultras will fit in a m-rod magazine but I found the m-rod didn’t like the head size compared to the smaller predators. So for a Condor – go Ultra – for an MRod – go Pred.

Not as well made as the Preds. Preds are more accurate and CLEANER looking and shaped pellets Metal tips are a gimmick as many pellets are. Preds perform JUST AS ADVERTISED. My .02 cents
