Q:

Polishing – what to use ?

I hear folks talk about polishing the barrel at the breech and polishing the valve components.
What grade steel wool or scotchbrite or who’s polishing paste should be used for these items ?
Should this be done by hand or spun via drill or lathe ?

Well I found a chart on Scotch Brite and so I have 0000 steel wool for 800 – 1000 grit, Scothbrite white for 1000 – 1500 grit and polishing compound for the 2000 + mirror finish. Should be all set.

Air Gunner do a search in Quick Ref there are some great post about how to do all of that and all of it does make your Airforce run like a well taken care of machine!! I turn the piece on a lathe and apply some scotchbrite. For extra shine I use Autosol, making sure to remove all traces before fitting the part.
