Talon vs COndor
Hey guys havent talked to TalonTUnes Tony so Im gonna ask this here. Im looking at getting a condor or a talon.Condor was my first choice but Idk. Im going for .25cal and plan to use kodiaks and eun jins, if I ever want to shoot jerrys slugs Ill have him re adjust it(he lives in Jax). Im thinking about 50 fpe and want to try for 15+ shots per fill. I was going to have TOny do a AAA.25 condor but tone it down just a bit and I like the idea that if I really want to kill that **** raccoon I have the condors power, but would it be better if I just went with the talon? I havent looked at what Tony can do with the talon frame but if I could get that power and 15+ shots per fill out of the talon Id be happy and would probally buy myself a maddog stock and maybe down the road get a condor and send it to tony and maybe buy some jerrys slugs, and defiantly do some pest removal = ). Thanks for the help.

Sorry Steve you replyed while I was typing. I could and if I ever get a mrod its going to be from that place called Talon TUnes = ), BUT right now Im leaning towards the talon due to smaller length and weight and that is compared to a condor a mrod is to heavy and long for me right now but if I get a gun for just the squirrels on the birdfeeder Ill have him hook me up.
Thanks Tony. Im leaning towards you doing something a little bit custom. A stubby extreme in concept except a little bit longer. a talon with the barrel chopped down to idk 16 inches, your tune, the whole enchilada lol with the power with a new spring and whatever else you do to be about 50 fpe in 25 cal. Your thoughts?
Hi Tony, what kind of energy is your .25 Marauder putting out? Mine is doing around 46fpe. I would have no problem shooting many critters, racoon, opposum, coyote, out to 50 yards. Past 50 yards, I’m sure the Kodiak, JSB King, or Predator would still do the job…it’s my ability to put the projectile on target for a clean kill. Ground squirrels I’d shoot at any distance. 😉
BackyardAG, have you considered a TT Marauder? I could see you being very happy with one of those. 😀
AAA.25 Condor with a 21″barrel. With my Valve mod I am pushing a 31 grn Kodiak at 1015fps for 70FPE.
If I want to tone in down a little I use a standard flo Talon tank for approx 820FPS for 46 FPE.

Thanks, I am debating this. I have about 1900 to spend all together. Im very comfortable in my shooting skills and 50 fpe gives me enough to take a raccoon to more than 30 yrds. Ive taken them with less than 20 fpe with a well placed headshot when I used springers. It will be a mixed bag between pigeons squirells and raccoons but more of the first 2. Weight and length are issues for me and thats why I looked at a .25 talon. Any info regarding pros and cons between the 2 is much appreciated. Also I know someone on here has a stubby extreme and a condor. Thanks
I debated the Talon vs. Talon modded vs. Taldor vs. Condor vs. Condor modded. 12 vs 18 vs 24 inch barrel.
Take you time and think what is the most you would ever want to do.
You can always back the airgun down via the power wheel.
Money can be an issue, from bare basics Talon to slighly modded Condor, it’s about the same $1000 to $1500. Scope, bipod, pump, adapters, shroud, mods, etc. etc.
You mentioned raccoons, so you must intend on hunting. If you go with 50 FPE what happens when you need to go another ten yards ? The best bang for the buck is the heavy hammer and push that 24 inch barrel Condor to 80 FPE max real easily, with 35.8 or 43.2 gr EunJuns.

I’ll put in my two cents worth, but I’m a newbie to this whole airgun thing. I’m a hunter, and came to the airgun world because two years ago I had a stroke and lost my right eye. I was not about to give up hunting, so I practiced left-handed/left-eyed with my old Diana 50 until I could shoot as well portside as righthanded, and got hooked on air. I decided on the Talon (I now have two) because:
1) it’s shorter and lighter than the Condor by about 5 inches and 1 1/2 pounds. Just handier in the field
2) For me, it comes up faster and is better balanced, not quite as weight forward. I’m an experienced hunter, not an airgunner, and I don’t fiddle around with guns much. I know the Condor can be modded to the hilt, but not by me. I want to shoot, not twiddle.
3) I have 3 .22 rimfires, a pair of .22 Hornets, and a .22-250, all of which are tackdrivers. I chose the Talon because it bridges the gap between the airgun world and the rimfire world.
I now hunt most small game with my Talon, but I’m not about to give up my rimfires, and centerfires. They can do things the Condor simply can’t
4) by backing off the power to about 7 – 8 on the thumbwheel, and filling the tank to about 2700 psi, you get about 35 – 40 useable shots with the Talon. The Condor isn’t quite this flexible, and like a magnum centerfire, performs best near full power. Or so I’m told. I could be full of prunes here.
I think the Talon is the ultimate in outdoor field/hunting guns. Yes, there are better made guns, like the AirArms, etc. etc. etc. but none simpler, handier, more accurate or lighter. I frankly am not about to carry an air rifle in the field that weighs as much as my .300 Weatherby. And a lot of them do.
