Q:

Having thoughts on something would like to hear from you.

Hi all been busy, but now have found some time to tinker. I’m looking for some friendly advice on my Talon ,and my SS.
The SS as we all know has a small I think a 12 in. barrel with a larger frame.
My Talon I think has a 18 in barrel smaller frame both .22. I know a lot of ” I thinks” But I’m pretty sure of barrel lengths. I have a TT 6.5 inch shroud on the SS.
Seems to me a lot of wasted space on the SS, would it benefit to swap out barrels and try to find a shroud for the Talon. What I really want to achieve is a very compact Talon. I need to use shrouds because of my location. I also have a Condor with a 24 in barrel + 18 inch TT shroud. This thing is huge. My problem is I like to swap things around. I love the power but not the bang. I would love to here your suggestions on how I can improve. I will also add I will be hunting small game here in Ohio this fall ,and I like to switch up rifles. Dam I should be happy with just one rifle not 3 😀 Let me know what you think. Thanks for all your help. Kip

Thanks for your info. I may work on internal baffels on the ss and get a shorter barrel for the Talon and use the 6.5 TT shroud.

“I think” you are going to find only YOU can truly answer your questions.

Advice is cheap, experience is priceless. Having said that heres my take.

You can get a very quiet SS and not even have to make the gun longer. Read and learn how to assemble your own “kit” to put inside the frame.
This will be the shortest configuration you can come up with.

The long Condor, well nothing much you can do if you want to keep it mouse-fart quiet. However I shrouded mine with my own 11″ model and none of my neighbors complain and my dogs don’t seem to mind. It is surprisingly quiet, my wife only hears the hammer from the next room.

Now take that 18″ barrel and put it in the talon frame, and use that 18″ TT shroud. You have the same overall length of my custom condor (it will be 6″ shorter than the Condor with that shroud), and its probably a bit quieter.
If you had my shroud on the Talon frame, it would be 13″ shorter than the TT Condor and 5″ longer than a stock SS. That sounds pretty handy to me.

Food for thought. Don’t be afraid to tinker you might surprise yourself.
