Q:

.25 magnum from Pacific Pellet Guns landed in Florida today!

I just got back from a tattoo convention and for those of you who have ever done the “trade show” circuit you know how my back feels right now. In fact I am hurting pretty bad…but I made some good money, sold some big pieces of art, and made some new friends and art world contacts.

Despite my pain..I knew if I did not at least open the box up today and shoot a couple over the crony…I would not have the chance for at least another week or two.

I must say I like Darren’s new trigger frame. I have had the Blue Fork design trigger frame and I have had old and new Crosman’s…it is surely nicer. The Blue Fork is cleaner, but I believe his was made on a CNC and Darren’s is not.

Darren’s new trigger is very mean looking. It is much better than the DC roller that was in it earlier with a super tight sear spring…It was so heavy that it simply would not do. Darren did not tell me much about his new trigger system as he is a man of few words, lol, but I am assuming it is a single stage as there is no first stage. It is a little on the heavy side, but it is much improved over it’s former trigger (I’m sure Darren knows the exact poundage). Slack is minimal and there is no creep. I hope to do some accuracy testing soon, but it may be a week or so until I find the time. I can’t just shoot this thing in my yard…it is very loud.

Cocking is very smooth, much smoother than it was when it was first built. Even cocking into the second (high power) position is very effortless.

Fit and finish is very nice. I chose all brushed stainless steel for this pistol. Despite it being so long (14″ barrel) it still feels like a pistol (unlike other pistols on the market).

Power levels are as Darren stated. I ran a few over the crony. I was confused on one result and the only thing I can think of is the fit of the pellet in the bore. What surprised me is that the 43.2 EJ’s made 1 fpe more than the 7 rings. The EJ’s did fit the breech much tighter than the 7 rings. The 7 rings seemed to fit like a glove. The JSB kings fit loosely. I am curious to see which ones shoot best in this DAQ barrel. All Darren told me was that “accuracy was good”, again, he is a man of few words.

JSB kings on low power setting (half cock)
sp 2000 psi
672,688,667,671,672,693,709,742,768,773,782,734,726,710,690,665,635,617 18 shots and a high of 34.5 fpe

Eun Jin 43.2 pointed
sp 3200 psi
702,777,763,782,760,737,735,714,695,682
ep 1400 psi
10 shots with a high of 58.5 fpe
Sure Fire 7 rings 70.6 gr
sp 3200 psi
523,552,598,605,601,606,597,585,573,558,525
ep 1400
11 shots with a high of 57 fpe.

I did a quick penetration test on a two by four and the Eunjins made it in at point blank range to a depth of 1.201″ @ 780 fps

The 7 rings almost made it out the back @ 600 fps (see photo below)

I did not take any photos of the gun. For those of you who have not seen this gun yet follow the link below. Thanks and I will post up some accuracy tests asap. Kudos to Darren for creating one power house of a pistola πŸ‘Ώ πŸ˜†

@ 80 GRIT : Congratulations getting your “Power-Beast”

Seems to be a nice one!

@Guido:

You’re right, seems to be, that Darren is still alive and also delivering some productiions—-

Hope, that our beasts will be up-coming within the next weeks, before 2011 is gone. πŸ˜‰

cheers, ziva

i see; 80 !

Atleast i know now that Darren is still delivering… πŸ˜‰

have fun with your BIG pistol ❗ 😎

greetingsss…Guido πŸ˜›

Guido,

again, I don’t really recall. As aforementioned it was a “bit” past the stated delivery date…and when I sent it back for repair/upgrade it was quite some time as well before I got it back but again, he was working on a new trigger and trigger frame housing…and since he was giving me these upgrades at no extra charge I was more than understanding.

Having five children can make simple things like remembering when you shipped something nearly impossible. Countless distractions in my house. I will agree that Darren could work on his communication skills but alas people pay him for pistols, not therapy. Good luck!

Hi 80; i’ve send my last reply with my mobiel, and send it 3times i see now… LOL πŸ˜†

But; you don’t know how long you have waited for your Pistol to come ❓
ok ?
Petty.. πŸ˜₯

But so it seems; a long, long time, also eh ?! πŸ˜‰

Yep; i knew it would take a lot of time from the beginning..
But not this long, Γ‘nd this bad communication… 😯

I’ve to wait….

I’m waiting also for a pistol like yours, but than a Black one… 😎
Pellets, fill bottle and Red Dot allready in tha house…
Now only the pistol with it would be nice !
Or my money back.. 😈

greetingsss..Guido πŸ˜›

Guido,

Put down the coffee cup and move slowly away from the keyboard! I would have replied after only one post πŸ˜†

Honestly, I can’t tell you. I know that from the very beginning Darren stressed that he likes to do most of his communicating during the “first ten e-mails”. He is a bit grumpy but how many of us aren’t? I do understand that he is running a business, but alas he is trying to be innovative and he is producing some mighty nice custom pistols. Sometimes being innovative and producing quality work does not coincide with “on time” deliveries. Hell, I bought four custom guns to date and all four builders went WAY past the stated delivery times…it is the nature of the beast my friend.

Again, I can’t give you an exact wait time as I honestly don’t know. Hell I don’t even know what day it is most of the time, but I have an legitimate excuse: I’m an Artist πŸ˜€

Hopefully your pistol will be arriving soon. One thing I don’t perceive in Darren is dishonesty. So sit tight. What pistol did you order?

That’s pretty slow for the 7s but they do carry the power don’t they? You probably want to try some 6s to fit your power curve.

Hi 80, how long did you have to wait for your pistol in total ? Im realy qurius ?

And for good .25 sollids pellets i have a adres with a guy here from Holland, ho i met on a Dutch forum. .

From 50 and 70 grams !

Hey mate, don’t spam up my post. I might get upset…things might get out of hand πŸ˜†

Nice….. really is a sharp looking pistola there!!!

50fpe pistol? Wow… 😯

Hows muzzle flip on that thing? I built a 40fpe 36 cal pistol once and the flip was so bad I couldnt hit with it…but then again, I didnt have a compensator or anything.

That is a seriously nice looking bit of kit there!! Congrats!

I was very surprised that it hardly has any flip at all. That brake does a great job! I am ordering a Pacmyr grip for a better hold before the accuracy testing. Thanks Rob.
