Q:

The First Marauder Bullpup…Likely the Last!!!

I’ve always felt the Marauder Pistol would make an excellent bullpup carbine. I believe I was right.

I bought this stock, scope mount, and trigger mechanism for $230, no pistol included. Pistol, $380. Total $611.00 before the cans of base and finish paint, metallic gold pin striping tape, polyurethane, and Plasti-dip. Let’s call those items about $40.00. So a total of $651.00 with cosmetic mods. GMAC spring $12.00, Transfer Port $00.00. Grand total $663.00

Short of Crosman producing a molded plastic bullpup stock, I doubt there will ever be a conversion kit for this gun. It’s just too time consuming and expensive.

Here’s what I started with:

Let’s face it…this thing looks like shit on a white horse. This is akin to being set up on a blind date and having Sarah Jessica Parker open the door. It’s fugly. That’s why I bought it.

The first thing I did was install the GMAC heavy 22XX hammer spring, and a .132 Transfer Port. I had to remove five bolts and the whole process took 20 minutes. I went slow. The result was a very respectable 780 to 600 fps range. That was with 18.1gr JSB. I tried some 21gr Barracudas this afternoon and got them up to 650 fps. I’m quite happy with that. That’s ranging from 24 fpe to 14 fpe, and for 30 meters, that is plenty.

Then I got out my imagination and paint, dremel, miter saw, needle files, flat bastard files, sandpaper, assorted X-acto knives, and sanders.

I now have two bullpups from one gun. A “Long” model, quiet and powerful, and a “Short” model, louder and powerful.

Here are the pictures I promised. First the long version, then the short version (23″ vs. 19″ OAL) Bear in mind this is still a work in progress. I’m down to finishing details, no cleanup of dust on the model shown, but it’s done enough to let you guys see what can happen to a dog when it’s given a proper trim. Special thanks to Marmot_Militia for the excellent shroud extender which really helped keep the noise to a minimum, even with the mods I undertook.

You will note holes in both the sides, those are for the safety. I have yet to find proper grommets to dress them up, but I will. The bottom hole is for the pressure gauge. My apologies, these elements are not final finished, and the stock is dusty.

Not Fugly

Well, there it is. I’m as pleased with the performance as I am the stock.
The biggest problem I see in making your own bullpup is getting the stock inlaid for the action. The shape is easy. The final fitting is a bitch on wheels. But if I can do it, so can you. Just plan on keeping it, because it will be a cold day in hell before you can sell it for what you have in it. (all you 22XX mod nuts know exactly what I mean) I’m not sure I’ll keep the gold tape. A black line might go better with the overall look.

80’s Kitchen counter.

That’s a hell of a good story there Hoot…
You sure have a lot of them!!!
You’ve had an interesting life.

When I was in my first year of junior high, 7th grade, my mother washed my new whites, (the ones that had to last the school year), with a new gold sweat shirt. The result was piss yellow whites. My T shirts and underwear, and socks were piss yellow. Hmm. That went over big in gym class. It would have been nice to be color blind. I’m not color blind and I knew everyday that I was wearing piss yellow whites.

I learned to do my own laundry when I figured out what could be done to my clothes by an innocent mistake. Mom worked hard and did the best she could.

Hell don’t feel bad Hoot I wore a light red shirt many times to school to find out it was pink. (you’d think a freind would say something)

Being color blind kinda of sucks but I do have great night vision!

When I say I’m color blind, I mean real color blind.

When I was in high school, I was about as poor as you can get and still live. I had two jobs before school started, and worked 6PM to 12AM three nights a week and all day or night on weekends. That’s the only way a kid with an abusive, neglectful, alcoholic mother, and a dead alcoholic father, could buy clothes and eat twice every day. We didn’t own a car. If it rained, I simply ran the three miles and got soaked.

So, one day I walked past a men’s clothing store. I never went in there except to buy a pair of levis jeans when I could come up with the $5.00 they cost. 32 inch waist, 29 inch inseam, a 150 lbs of poor kid. Anyway, they had some yellow socks on sale for .25 cents a pair. This was unbelieveable, as they were some kind of cashmere, soft, comfortable and normally cost an incredible $1.50 per pair. But today they were .25 cents and I almost fainted. I bought seven pairs. That was all the cash I had, but it was Friday, so I would get paid the next day. It was hard to spend all that money, but I felt it was too good a deal to pass up.

So, here I come, walking down the street, at 7:30 in the morning on my way from work to high school. In those days you rolled your cuffs up so the trademark Levi blue seam showed up against the light blue denim pant legs. We wore penny slippers or gym shoes in those days and it was fashionable to have an inch or two of sock showing. I felt I was on top of the world. Those socks were sooo good looking and comfortable. My walk to school was about three miles, so I really appreciated comfortable socks and shoes.

As the school year passed, I would be walking to school, and someone, perhaps a quarter mile to a half mile away, would wave to me and wait for me so we could walk to school together. This happened many times, and I marveled at the keen eyesight of those individuals. I could barely see them, much less know who they were. I had glasses and pretty bad eyesight, so I never gave it a second thought.

Many years later, I asked one of my friends who had waved and waited, how he managed to recognize me at such a far distance, when I couldn’t even tell if the person waiting was male or female.

“Oh” he said, “That was easy. You wore those day-glow orange socks every day!”

Here I thought they were a soft shade of yellow…not an international distress orange, visible for nearly 1/2 mile!!! And I was wearing them seven days a week, during my entire junior year at school, 1960/61.

Small wonder my reputation at school was that of a very private and strange individual.

Some times, no matter how lucky you think you were, you ain’t!

ROFLMAO!!!

Hoot…. RJ is just fucking with you…

It looks like granite…. Hot Ping Granite…. 😯 but never the less… granite..

Ok… Now I’m fucking with you too..
😆 😆 😆 😆

It looks like any normal granite rock.

Sort of a light tan and some medium tan mix, and has black specks in it.

Not fugly. Just a bit different than any other gun I have ever seen.

You ARE shitting me….aren’t you???? I am seriously color blind and I honestly don’t know.

I thought it was some kind of “Earth Color” stone texture. I bought the paint because I loved the grainy texture, much more rough than bed-liner.

I’m not sure I like the gold tape. That may go.

Hoot

its hot pink with some black specs

Being color blind, it can be ape shit yellow-green for all I know. I bought the can because of the extremely rough texture of the paint. I put five coats of Poly over it, so it ain’t coming off.

By the way….exactly what color is it anyway??? I honestly don’t have a clue.

Hoot 😯

You need to call the marauders the Mannequin Twins.

I like the rifles but that stock color is kinda weird IMO. 😉

Dang Hoot , that is the shit!!

really nice. 🙂
