what’s the best set-up in general?
Hello all-
Just want to get some feedbakc to what you guys think it the best setup to achieve accuracy at 100yds +-25yds? & compact and moderate power.
.25 Condor with 18″
I prefer 12″ barrel, but thinking 12″ might/will wasted too much air and might not reach that distance and 24″ is not really compact.

It’s a Condor frame with a HPA tank from the Talon. The valve on the tank is a “standard flow” valve instead of the “high flow” valve from the Condor. You gets more shot per fill (30 to 40), and it still pushes the medium weight pellets you plan on using at velocities that give excellent range and accuracy.
If after reading all the info in the forum, you change your mind about the set-up you want, don’t hesitate to return some of what you ordered, and get the stuff you now know that you want. That’s what I wish I’d done, too many extra parts laying around…..

This is what I will have and it’s on it way.
A stock .22 Condor w/24″, will be using JSB 18.1g and Kodiak 21.1g. I want to get it with 18″, but they do not have that option.

What does a Talon valved (in a?)Condor mean/do? does it decrease the fps or iit’s just the tank itself?
Well here’s the deal. If you are using a stock valve and want to primarily shoot 31.2 gr pellets, then you will get 958 fps (sweet spot) out of a 18 inch barrel. As you can see, the range of 800 to 975 is optimum for most pellets, so barrel length is directly related to FPS /Pellet weight.
Let me know what pellets you will mainly shoot and I can guess a max barrel length based on a stock or TT valve.
Be aware that some day when you want to send a heavier pellet like a 43.2 gr Eunjun or 52 gr 25 ACP or 62 gr 6-Ring, a shorter barrel is going to only push the pellet at a much lower speed (time in the barrel).

I have a 24″ .22 Condor with TT shroud and it feels like I’m carrying a scoped spear of laser death.
I think one of the best set-ups is a Talon valved Condor in .22 cal with an 18″ barrel. It’s fairly compact, pushes an 18 gr JSB pellet in the 850 fps range and is VERY consistent in the 100 yard area. My 8 year old daughter can consistently hit tin cans at 100 yards with this same set-up, but with a 12″ barrel. If it works for her…… :5:
I heard/read that with the .22 and 24″ it quite a “bang”, for sure a shroud is needed. Until then, it’s the garage with music turn on or the range, which is not too far away.
The .25 will be a blast, but I do not want to overwhelm myself. Maybe .22 w/24″ is all I need. The more you read about .25 the more tempted you get.
Still do not see any fedex truck yet….

By buying the AirForce Condor you have one of the most adaptable rifles anywhere.
I started with the 22 Condor and have shot it with the 24 inch barrel and the 12 barrel, with both Talon and Condor valves.
There is also a archery kit sold that will propel arrows at 500 FPS with pin point accuracy.
I love long range shooting and use a Rangefinder and Chairgun to determine range and drop.
My longest shot was 148 yards on a Starling with a Condor 24 inch barrel, but with a Talon valve in it, I routinely shoot crows at over 100 yards with the 25 barrel.
I no longer shoot the 22 and have gone to the 25 caliber, I shoot groups at 100 yards quite often at my private range and at times get 5 shots into 3/4 inch or better, but many times have 4 out of 5 into less than one inch.
Right now I am expermenting with 25 caliber 52 grain cast bullets designed for the 25 acp. I am pushing them at 930 FPS and they are still going the same 750 FPS the pocket pistol 25 acp when they get to 180 yards.
There are so many options available to you with that Condor frame, but beware, you can also dump a lot of money into it, as much as a high quality rifle like a FX or Daystate, of Edgun.

It sure can. Good call changing from the Talon to the Condor, I wish I had done the same way back when. 😉 I spent about the same as an EdGun when all was said and done getting the TalonSS up to a Condor 24″ 25cal capable rifle.
If you find the 24″ barrel good for you in terms of length then the 25 caliber 24″ barrel will make you even more happy with the Condor.
Finding the right pellet is critical for long range accuracy.
If you can deal with the length of the rifle you’ll find the Condor is quite capable of power and distance.

That’s some serious calculated shooting.
It would be nice to have an Edgun, but it COST quite a bit. Can a stock .22 condor w/24″ take out to 100yds with the right pellet? Because that is what I just bought and waitng to arrive. Order the TalonSS at first, but change my purchase for the Condor.
SCBA and fill adapter are on it way also. FedEx dont drive by my house anymore on days like these. 🙁
Could you deal with 22 caliber? For ‘compact’ i’d lean towards the EdGun. 😉

The Condor isn,t very compact and the additional 4″ of the 24″ barrel isn’t that much longer than the rifle is with an 18″ barrel.

You should be getting 30-40 shots from a fill with a 25cal Condor with a HiFlo valve pushing 30 grain pellets in the 900’s… 😯 😕
A Talon valve may offer more shots depending on how it is set up, caliber, length of barrel, etc… 😉
With some tophat work I had a Talon valve that would push 30 grain 25 cal pellets into the 800 fps range in a 24″ barrel…
Unless your going to shoot 177cal don’t bother with the standard (Talon) valve on your Condor. 😉
