Walther PS55 Sight
I received my Walther PS55 red dot sight, except it has an interesting reticule instead of a red dot. It’s an illuminated cross-hairs, with horizontal bars across the bottom.
I sighted it in today in broad daylight and had to turn it down because it was too bright. It uses a single AAA battery. The reticule is small but adequate for shooting some very tight groups. It is sharply defined, much more sharp than my picture would indicate.
Adjustments were a seven position brightness control, elevation and windage knobs, which are adjusted with a coin.
Once I got it zeroed, it held zero and was putting the shots into each other. I didn’t do any groups because my neighbor was on the porch and I was pushing the limits. The little Matador pistol bullpup is an excellent instrument on which to mount a 1X scope of this nature.
The Prod, modified only with a Marmot_Militia shroud extension, a GMAC 22XX spring, and a .130 SteveinLA transfer port, was slinging 21gr Barracudas at 750 fps. I’m filling to 3300 psi and getting 24 good shots. I will chrony those results tomorrow, if weather permits. The GMAC spring pops that valve open without any trouble at the higher psi. The grommet holes are to work the safety, and the bottom one is to view the pressure gauge.
I’m still working on the grips. I’m using Plasti-grip and it needs several more coats before I get the cushion effect I’m looking for.
I’ll post some groups later, but for now, this little $78 sight, from PA, is taking care of business. And, that 1K lumen Ultra-fire LED light is really good for lighting up my back yard. The Walther performed flawlessly in total dark with the 1K lighting up the yard. I had excellent vision, and sight picture out to 150 feet. The only thing lacking about the Ultra-Fire is it casts a very broad beam. I’m going to try to narrow that down with a dark tube. The light does not have a focus function. But, it is BRIGHT.
I’ll try to get chrony readings, shot groups, and shot count posted sometime next week. The Prod continues to amaze me with it’s performance. Those 21gr pellets were slamming home really hard at 100 feet! The impact noise was quite substantial, and pleasantly surprising.

Is that spring stronger than the Discovery hammer spring? I bought a spring off a guy on the GTA to allow my disco to be filled up to 2400 psi and get a gain in 80-90 fps.
I will have to try to fill up to above 3k to see what I get.
Yes, I can easily shoot with both eyes open. It doesn’t have a dot, but rather a modified reticule with a couple of horizontal bars across the bottom.
One of the nicests scopes I had, and the most practicle, was the 4X Bugbuster. Clear as a bell. No knobs to adjust once it was zeroed in, and dead on accurate. Surprising how 4X can be more than adequate for air gunning.
As for looks, I agree, it’s no beauty, but it’s totally functional for what I do. It sits by my bedside, and in my truck under some covers, with enough power to pop anything as far as my headlights go, or in my entire back yard. It also goes nicely under my boat seat and makes a great snake gun.
If it moves, shoot it.

dont like the looks too much, but it really looks like a coll setup….reddots are awesome for some quick airming, can you shoot this red dot with both eyes open ?
i have had few of the how sights, of the expensive kind 3-400$ and found them very accurate and a pleasure to have both eyes open and just having a crosshair appear at the target very cool… unfortunately the ones i tried was sitting too high so in the end i sold them and wen back to traditional scopes
for the first time in my life im shooting a fixed 4×32 scope no AO no nothing very cheap with paralax st at 30 yards its pretty clear for such a scope but with no AO and no zoom theres a lot less lenses in there to make the picture fuzzy/milky….its on my first break barrel in something like 20 years

That’s excellent on the P-Rod tune. 24 shots around 25 fpe.

I got 16 and ran out of pellets. I thought at that fps I wouldn’t get more than eight at high velocity, I was wrong.
I’ll fill it up and see Monday how many I get and at what fps. Today was not good for shooting with the chrony.
I’ll let you guys know.

PS: I attribute that fps gain to the GMAC spring, and some tuning of the hammer throw and spring tension.
Costs about $15.00 shipped. It’s a very simple installation.
I pleased that transfer port sleeve worked out for you. 21gr Baracudas at 750!?! …from that little barrel? That’s impressive. 😉 That’s a gain of 200fps over the stock configuration. How many shots do you get with a 3000psi fill?

The best way to tell is to take the OEM spring out and compare it wit the discovery.
The difference in my Prod spring and the GMAC spring was obvious. As was the performance.
