Accuracy
I’ve read so many posts on this and other forums about guys getting very small 5 shot groups at 25, 50 yards and beyond. I went to the range this evening and it was dead calm. I shot my Mrod and my Talon SS. Both had clean barrels. The guns would shoot 3 good shots then 4 or 5 flyers. What gives? The Talon has LW barrels and I have a collection of dozens of pellets such as JSB, H&N, CPs, and others. I get the same results. No consistency. I consider myself a good shot, but I can’t seem to tame these airguns. What’s wrong with the Talon? I have .177 barrels and .22 barrels. Either the shooters who post on these forums are fishermen or are shooting FWBs and telling us they are shooting Talons or Mrods.
Are there some basic mods to the Talon to make them shoot more consistenly? I’ve tried HPA, CO2, I’ve run the power knob to both extremes, and used every pellet under the sun and get the same results. The only thing I haven’t done is lube the pellets, but I can’t seem to think that lubed pellets would be any better.

I get the corkscrew effect when I tried to tone the gun down(turn the power setting to a lower setting, 3,4). I thought it was wierd, sight-in at 23 yards and stacking shots, move target to 32 yards and the POI would be 1.5″ the the left. Sight-in at 32 and move target back to 23 yards and POI would be 1.5″ right. Turned the power wheel back to full power(7,8) and I get laser-like accuracy out to 50 yards. This gun does not like low power settings. Go figure.
All things being held constant, you can watch one pellet go on a nice parabolic arc into the center of the target. The next pellet takes a corkscrew path.
What weight is ur hammer and loading for ur spring? I was having the same problem using a 100g hammer thought my shoots where going where i aimed but they were not but i got my barrel polished and using the stock stealth hammer my accuracise is pin point at 50 pellet on pellet and within my thumb nail at 70 could be ur hammer is not sliding smoorhly so not consistant
Well , whats the common denominator, the shooter , Cant speak for the M rod, but my Condor is the most accurate air rifle i have ever seen, you have to get the gun in Tune for it to be match accurate, but air force rifle should shoot 1″ at 50′ with out any black magic or witch craft.
You will have to give all specs for any more help,fill pressure, pellets used, top hat settings, power wheel settings.
you say you cleaned the barrel, How? , some pellets shoot better wet with oil, some don’t like allot of oil.
I have had the accuracy go to crap with my condor,and usually it was shroud related, other wise a slight deterioration of accuracy might be dirty frame causing hammer drag or inconsistency. or dirty bore. not having the frame oil up properly for consistency. etc

Are you shooting in the most accurate FPS range of 800 to 975 ?
Where was that scope on before you put it on these airguns (hopefully not on a springer airgun) ?
Are all the screws tight ?
Do both airguns exhibit the same number of flyers, then what is common ?
Did you check each of pellets for trueness ?

There are lots of variables. Scope, cant, vibration, hold, frame flex, bag rest, etc. If I get 0.75″ at 33 yards with my 177 TSS then I’m happy as my hollow points are perfect for body shots. My condor with ballistic tip HP groups 1.0″ at 50 yards.
Try predator, Skenco ultramags, h&n baraccudas. You may find your gun shoots better dirty, with a lower pressure, less hammer pre-tension, etc.

ive also seen inaccuracy caused by excessive valve travel.
