What can I do to Finish this?
I added a .25 cal ST barrel to my Condor, modified it for a Quad-rail and added some shinys, but I need to cap it off with something to finish it and protect the end of the barrel, but with what?
I have a shroud,but It adds 9”past the end of the quad and I dont like the extra length. The wt and balance like it is now is just perfect, so an extention no more than 3” past the barrel tip is what I would like.
There is a lot of room inside the Quad to redirect air if I seal it with a tube insert , so Is it possible to make some kind of short baffeled cap on the end without creating accuracy affecting turbulance? I dont need it whisper quiet, but just take some of the Ka- POWW 😯 out of it.

I would go with that compensator Riverside posted. Looks like a twist on, once you mount the sleeve.
Which brings me to a question. Why are those barrels machined like that, to have a 1/2″ UNF thread on the end of a sleeve? What is the muzzle machined to fit?

I Had a member custom make me a barret muzzle break for the AF Condor. Turned out great just need to find a way to attach it just have not had the time yet. This is the thread on it.

I thought you might be thinking of threading the very muzzle…
I guess it depends on how much looks and weight count against noise.
I don’t care much about noise with the powerhouse guns.
So, (given the skills) I’d build a can that just barely fits inside the quad that uses the existing threads and shoulder for alignment. I’d weld in a bushing that rides the barrel for secure alignment and I’d make the can 3″ longer than the barrel and weld in a couple baffles. Then, I’d probably stamp a serial number in it and apply for a tax stamp rather than run the risk of having a can that could reduce the sound of an ACP by a decibel…
Well yes and no. Yes, if you have optimum internals and proper relief holes in the right place. No, if you are guessing what changes high frequency to low and how to extend the force in a reflex vs. reflect baffle and what disturbs vibration waves from one media to the next.
Some is art, some is science, some work, some don’t. Tony knows.
Ok, so if Im understanding right I may be able to go shorter if I go larger OD on the extension with a tube sealing and sliding inside the quad?
The FX barrels come threaded already 1/2unf. I just dont have the sleeve on in the pic.
airgunner i built this , it slides over my regular shroud, just to see, it reduces the existing Puff by half.which was already not much, so it really was not needed.but it did make me think about a shroud that was bigger around and the same length as the one a keep on the gun, which is 13″
When it comes shrouds, a longer shroud of equal volume to a shorter shroud will always win. Confusious say: Always use a greater force against itself. The energy direction is greatest moving forward, so give it time to naturally dissipate sideways through expansion. There is a limit to width without sacrificing sound depletion, which is evident in the length to width ratio of Tony’s Talon Tunes shroud. Have Tony make you something.
be nice if you could find a diameter that wold slide into the forearm, and just stick out past the barrel a little
With the gun shooting so well, I’d be hesitant to cut threads on the end of the barrel.

An Airstripper is a good idea. Lots of those available in the UK but anyone doing them in the USA? Are those prohibited from being exported if their threaded 1/2unf like the FX barrel?

Oh ya, I love Leupy’s stuff. Browsing thru his website is like going to Cabela’s only I dont get to buy anything. My trigger shoe was said to be one of his.
Leupy’s airstrippers and Yamaha’s barret brake both do exactly what I want which is to isolate the pellet and redirect the air away and back in the shortest distance possible. Add a short can to encase it and I think that might do it 😀
Rif, I have no idea what the threads are on the back end of the muzzle where the sleeve screws on, but the OD and the gap(or lack of a gap) close up perfect when the sleeve is screwed on.
