A shoebox question

I figured out I would ask this here rather than post a new thread. Perhaps Tom may stop back by and set things straight.

Can the shoebox be used all alone with no external 85psi compressor?

Straight out of the manual..

“Do NOT run the ShoeBox without a pressure
feed. Doing so will cause the system to shut off
at approximately 6,000 psi instead of
approximately 4,500 psi.”

I don’t care if the shoebox will go up to 10,000psi without an external shop compressor. My gun only gets filled to 2500-3000 psi.
Even with the fisrt stage compressor, I’m standing there watching it anyhow, I sure don’t wanna blow my gun up! It fills the gun up in about 5 min, if it took it a few min longer, so what.

It would sure be more convenient than having to haul the shop compressor along when I go over to pals house to shoot.

The back check orings are NOT standard buna, they are Viton and can take about 3 times the heat before melting. The white ones are high quality cast urethane that I get from a supplier I have been working with for 20 years to get me the right stuff.

I guarantee you that you can’t get them from the hardware store and you can’t buy a few cheaper than you can get them from me. I just had a customer send his compressor in for repair because he used the wrong orings on the back check and couldn’t figure out why they were melting.

Don’t do it!

I asked Tom about this when I bought the compressor.

These are not your average ace hardware o-rings. Having the right size O-rings is irrelavant, they are not all regular duro60/90 orings, and there are many types of o-ring materials in many materials for diff applications. Far more than I can understand.

Don’t fry your shoebox to save a few bucks..just not worth it
Spend a few bucks more and get the right ones, its not likr Tom’s prices are real unreasonable
