As you can see the system is a bored out nut to allow less collapse of the valve spring, longer lighter weight valve spring to allow further valve travel (duration of open) and vented delrin for flow through.
The first key to the system is primarily not having the spring collapse which is typical under maximum valve travel with typical Tophat settings. This avoids the solid “pipe” created which cuts off airflow from the tank, when you need it the most.
The other key is the vented delrin, which allows air flow from inside the spring to flow with minimum redirection to the valve ports. It also adds directional flow, or jetting action, to the air coming out through the coils, by sucking the air along, so this design will give maximum high pressure at the valve ports.
The stock spring has a rate of approximately 33 lbs/in which is only accurate over the middle 60% of spring travel (less in 0-20 and more in 80-100), and the stock spring works in the last 80-100% of travel. TagDagger’s spring has a rate of about 15 lbs/in and works in the mid 60% of travel, meaning it opens easier.
Either of these components separately will increase the factory airflow, but for the adventurous, combining thses components with a R&L Extreme valve that is ported so as to allow air to flow parallel to the valve stem, one could potentially push some big air at lesser powerwheel settings, which is what you really want for accuracy yet maintaining your high FPE.
My original setup was a 95 gram Tony hammer and nothing else. Trying to stay in the 800 to 975 fps range, which gave me a FPE spread of 30 with 26.0 gr at PW of 0/0 to 90 FPE with 43.2 gr at PW 13/0.
I now will have a 95 gram Tony hammer, R&L Extreme valve, TagDagger spring, nut and vented delrin. I’ll let you know what my FPE spread is.

The valve kits Ive been doing for a while for the arrows, but venting the delrin is something new Ive been playing with since seeing the direct flow thingamabob AF did on the talon pistol. I discovered something interesting this weekend while setting up a Talon framed Airarcher for a customer. I installed the valve kit, turned out the top hat and fired a round of arrows, but it seemed like it was’nt shooting as fast as it should. when I did the chrony it was just under 400fps 😕 This is a new gun with a new Hi-flo valve, so I began to wonder if AF had made some “improvement” that was hindering the arrows performance. Took the new valve and an old valve that I knew was sending arrows 500fps completely apart and laid them side by side. The only difference was the delrin cap. The delrin on my old valve was tapered and the new one was at a right angle like the one in airGunner’s pic. Anyway chucked it up in the lathe put the same taper on the new one and this is the 1st shot string with the arrows that followed.
