newbie with new talon project gun
Well, I got a bag o rusty parts when I thought I was buying a “hunter grade” talon ss from a classified ad. First it was a bit rusty so I started to take it apart for a good cleaning and now I am very close to my limit in my ability to service this. I can turn an allen wrench, but when it comes to precise measurements I think I am better off handing off the work. I am not a machinist and do not have a proper workbench setup.
Its a talon frame, but the barrel is 24″, so do I look in talon for info or condor?
Barrel bushings are stuck, will spin in place but wont slide off with screws loosened, how do I make sure the bushings are in the proper place?
Also the 2nd set screw that holds the thread for the bottle to the frams is stripped, how can I get it off?
And I need to get a new pistol grip/frame. Where can I get that part cheap?

Lay barrel next to you frame and get the bushings lined up roughly and tighten a little
Newer frames have 3 holes. One of the set screw and another 2 either side 22.5 degrees away from the set screw hole (and thus 45 degree from each other). The two holes either side line up with the holes on the frame. Older ones might have 1 or 2 holes per bushing and on those you just line up the frame set screws with the witness marks on the bushing.
Insert barrel into gun, get one of the bushings lined up properly and then loosen it. Manipulate the barrel which should be hard because its a 24″ so sticks out plenty until the other bushing is lined up and then tighten down both. Rotate until the set screw holes match up and insert the frame grub screws.
Only difference between a Talon with a 24″ barrel and a condor is the tank and a hammer weight in frame. You can look in both sections.
